Cards exiled with Narset, Enlightened Master

Asked by Quadsimotto 9 years ago

How does this work involving the stack? I declare her as an attacker and exile the four cards. Can i play them before blockers can be declared? (instant cards anyway?) or do blockers get assigned before i am allowed to play them? I swing with Narset, Enlightened Master my opponent has a Butcher of the Horde on the board. I exile Stoke the Flames and two Jeskai Charm scan i target the butcher before he or she is able to declare it as a blocker or is narset a goner but i still get to take the butcher down the stokes?

As Narset's ability resolves you will exile the top 4 cards of your library. If any of those are instants, there will be a time for you to cast them before blockers are declared. So in your scenario there will be a chance to hit the Butcher with either Stoke the Flames or Jeskai Charm .

Additionally, Narset, Enlightened Master wouldn't die from just being blocked. She would need lethal damage be dealt to her during the Damage step of combat.

which the butcher can surely do. Thank you though. That was the answer i was hoping for. That would not be the case in the even of a sorcery or plainswalker or any other type of card would it?

Narset lets you cast those cards from exile until the end of the current turn, but doesn't change the times you're allowed to cast them. Any sorceries, planeswalkers, artifacts, etc. will have to wait until your post-combat main phase to be cast. But hey, they're free, which is still pretty good.

No doubt she is a bad bad chick. I could see decks running her running the table pretty easily. The reason i asked this question is because i have some ideas on how to abuse her. I have already seen the walker droppers. Those are pretty sweet really.
