Can you "cycle" Courser of Kruphix and Chandra, Pyromaster abilities?

Asked by ScotchMTGFanboy 9 years ago

First question is:

During my turn, If I have a Courser of Kruphix on board, I play with the top card of my library revealed, turns out it's a land, so I gain 1 life and play that land. Then, how many lands can I play this turn aside from my the one I'm allowed per turn? As many as they keep showing up on my library as I reveal them?

Second Question: Can a Chandra, Pyromaster on board be used, just once by adding "0" loyalty counters to it, to remove a non land card from the top of my library and play that card? hence re-starting the Courser of Kruphix 's ability?

thanks!

  1. Since Courser of Kruphix does not say "You may play (number) additional lands on each of your turns", you can only play one land per turn with her on the field, whether it's from your library, from your hand, or from some other place.

  2. If the top card of your library isn't a land, and you exile the top card of your library with Chandra, Pyromaster , and you still haven't played a land this turn, you may play that land from the top of your library.

Damn, I've playing it wrong all this time!!!! LOL, I was playing one land per turn, then gaining life and playing every single additional land that came on top of my library via the Courser of Kruphix and "cycling" it with Chandra!!! Thanks for clearing it up! erabel.

I wonder if this confusion is what spiked up the price of Courser of Kruphix . I've always thought it was a mediocre card.

no the spike came from the fact the Courser of Kruphix is a beast. It can shut down aggro decks because they can't by his big ass (with a Elvish Mystic it hits the board on turn 2) and because of the life gain, he also generates card advantage by slimming the amount of lands you draw off the top and helping you hit your lands drops more regularly, and on a smaller note it adds two devotion for standard R/G monster decks to build up devotion for nykthos. or turning on Xenagod. Also, and I have less knowledge here because I don't deal so much with modern, but I believe there are Jund list that are using the courser with some success. It's not a 4x of in those decks but I'd be willing to bet some people are picking them up just in case it makes a permanent home in those decks and possibly sees even more play.

abenz419 that and when RtR rotates out, all the huge card advantage engines that we're used to are going away, so things like Courser and Steam Augury are going to be our best options (barring anything that comes out in M15 or Khans).
