Can I use proliferate with energy counters?

Consulate Turret rulings on gatherer seems to imply that energy counters are comparable to poison counters. So will Contagion Clasp be able to add to my energy counters?

Yes. Energy counters go on players, so Proliferate can be used to increase them.
