Can I use Crop Rotation to fizzle Wasteland?

I Just want to be clear on my understanding of this rule. Let's say my opponent goes to Wasteland my Taiga. In response, I tap and sac the Taiga to a Crop Rotation. My understanding is that because the permanent the Wasteland was targeting is sacrificed, the "destroy target non basic land'' trigger on the stack fizzles since the selected target is no longer present on the field even though the Taiga that I saced was replaced by a new permanent. Am I correct in my thinking?

You're correct. The ability targeted your Taiga, which is no longer around.
