Can I Reverberate a Warrior's Oath as a WinCon?

Asked by GorehoundABB 6 years ago

In a situation where I cast a Reverberate / Fork effect with a Warrior's Oath on the stack can I use target my opponent with the copied Warrior's Oath so that they would be able to receive the effect?

Or will I receive the copied spell since Warrior's Oath does not specify a target in the text.

Your Reverberate will copy Warrior's Oath, but can not choose new targets because Oath does not specify a target in the oracle text. What you're looking for is Hive Mind, my friend :)

EgyptianSpaceGamer Hmmmm This is problematic. Trying to squeeze this potential combo into a mono red commander deck. Hive Mind would work but it is not going to cut it.

Also, Hive Mind doesn't even work well. Extra turns are taken in reverse order of how they're created - the most recent extra turn created will be the first one taken, which will be yours because the copies created by Hive Mind will resolve before the origianl. In short, even if you can somehow make this combo work, you'll have to survive your extra turn before your opponent's are killed by theirs.

What you're looking for is is a combination of Time Warp, which targets a player and can be redirected, and Warrior's Oath, which has that player lose the game. The obvious thing here is that no card with "target player takes an extra turn, then loses the game" exists, as half the strategies would be to cheat this card out on the first turn.

Hive Mind is usually the go-to card for this kind of win condition, but only because you can use it in combination with Pact of Negation (or similar cards), which avoid giving extra turns while creating the predicament of losing the game unless you can produce a certain kind of mana.

As long as we're being creative, you could use Sundial of the Infinite to prevent your own loss (provided you've given everyone else their own copy with Hive Mind or similar so you actually achieve something).

Or if you really want to use a bit of flair, use Glorious End with Hive Mind. Theirs will resolve first, clearing the original off of the stack and giving them one last turn to win

acbooster That of course would only work in a duel situation. None of these situations really ensure a win, because spells like Warrior's Oath create a delayed triggered that (of course) can be countered. In a perfect world, you would cast Oath, with a Hive Mind and a "recurrable" Mindslaver effect, or Time Stop effect like Epochalyptik suggested.
