Can I get a wurm from Wurmweaver Coil if I cast a board wipe?

Asked by knowledgeabletyrant 8 years ago

If I cast a Wrath of God and destroy whatever creature Wurmweaver Coil is attached to, could I somehow get the wurm token without it dying?

Not unless you have some way to cast Wrath of God at instant speed, or have a way to make it indestructible.

If you have the ability to board wipe at instant speed, you could put the ability to make the token onto the stack, then cast the board wipe. Then the wipe would happen before the token came into play.

Only if you could give the token indestructible. If you use the Coil's ability in response to the Wrath, then the token will be on the battlefield when Wrath of God resolves, destroying it unless you also give it indestructible with something like Ready / Willing

So if I use Wurmweaver Coil's ability and it goes on the stack, I could use a Wrath of God and then I would get the token after it resolves?

Only if you could cast it at instant speed. Vedalken Orrery is one such way to do that. But normally, since Wrath of God is a sorcery, you can't do it. There are instant wrath effects such as Rout, Mageta the Lion,Fated Retribution, Austere Command, Nevinyrral's Disk and Magus of the Disk.

But if you can cast a board wipe at instant speed, you could but the ability on the stack. And then in response cast the board wipe. The board wipe would kill all the creatures in play. THen the ability would resolve putting the wurm into play.
