Can I bestow Hypnotic Siren onto Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and retain control of him?

Asked by chrizzilla 9 years ago

I was thinking of a hypothetical situation where I have a Prophet of Kruphix on the battlefield, my opponent has a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker out, and he activates Sarkhan's +1 ability to turn him into a 4/4 Dragon until end of turn. I then flash-bestow Hypnotic Siren to Sarkhan, as he is a creature.

Now the thing I am a little unsure of is this: What happens at end of turn, when Sarkhan becomes a planeswalker again? Will I retain control of him or will the Siren fall off and become a creature?

I assume, since the reminder text states it becomes an aura with enchant creature, that the siren will fall off, but I want to be sure.

You are correct. Hypnotic Siren becomes an Aura with Enchant Creature, and when the creature it's enchanting is no longer a creature it will fall off.

I think the bigger question is do we retain the control... I would assume yes because it doesn't say to return it if it so happens to fall off

@Sir5L No, you will lose control of the creature, as it is no longer enchanted by the aura that says "You control enchanted creature." It is not affected by that ability anymore, and thus defaults to the control of its owner.

If this is not talking about standard, would could always flash in Restoration Angel after taking it, and THAT would make it yours to keep...right?
