Can Dromoka's Command be used with Seeker of the Way once attackers have been declared to attack and block?

Asked by lenovo789 8 years ago

I'm sorry I'm not sure how to better format my question.

I only have Seeker of the Way on the board and want to trigger prowess with Dromoka's Command to gain life link, add a +1/+1 counter, force my creature to "fight" one of the attacking creatures" and then block with my creature. Can I wait until my opponent's combat phase when they declare attackers to cast the instant and force one of the declared attackers to fight? After that happens can I still use my Seeker of the Way to block? If so does he have damage from the initial fight from Dromoka's command or are they independent? Does the lifelink occur with the forced fight and blocking?

Or would I have to play it before attacker's are declared to be able to still block?

I hope that makes sense. I was really confused as to how this worked. Thanks for the help!

  1. You can use Dromoka's Command at any time you want, even after blocks have been declared but before damage has been dealt. Seeker of the Way's triggered abilities,(both prowess and lifelink) will resolve before Dromoka's Command does.

  2. Damage accumulates throughout the turn. it doesn't clear until the cleanup step at the very end of the turn.

Whenever a player would gain priority, state-based actions are checked, and one of those state-based actions puts all creatures into the graveyard who have damage equal to or greater to their toughness marked on them.

  • You can use Dromoka's Command at any time you want, even after blocks have been declared but before damage has been dealt.
  • Seeker of the Way's triggered abilities,(both prowess and lifelink) will resolve before Dromoka's Command does. This means that seeker of the way will have both +1/+1 and lifelink for the rest of the turn. This includes during the fight and during combat.

  • Damage accumulates throughout the turn. Whenever state-based actions are checked, all creatures with damage marked on them >= their toughness get destroyed. Damage doesn't clear until the cleanup step at the very end of the turn.

  • If Seeker of the way recieves damage from both the fight and from combat, they add up. So, if it recieved 2 damage from each, and it's a 4/4, it will die.
