can Colossus of Akros attack if Dragon Throne of Tarkir is equipped then its monstrosity is activated

i have them both and wondered if i could give Colossus of Akros vigilance then attack and tap it for the power toughness boost from Dragon Throne of Tarkir before damage is delt

To the question in the title: yes. Colossus of Akros's last ability allows Colossus of Akros to attack as though it didn't have defender; it doesn't actually remove defender from Colossus of Akros.
