Can {Animar, Soul of Elements}' ability pay for {leyline of lightning}'s ability?

I don't think it does, but I am unsure. I know he can pay for kicker costs and the like though. I am building a morph deck with him, and I am trying to decide whether or not to put in the leyline. Free extra damage is always great though.

No because Leyline of Lightning's effect is an ability that is triggered when you cast a spell, it is an optional amount of mana that you can pay to get its effect. The effect has no interaction with the spell's mana cost or Animar's ability to reduce the cost of creatures.
