Can a Wrath of God destroy a Blurred Mongoose?

If I have a Blurred Mongoose out, and my opponent plays wrath of god, will blurred mongooses shroud ability protect it? Or does shroud only protect a creature when it is specifically targeted?

Your second assumption is correct: Wrath of God does not target any specific object, so it will be destroyed along with every other creature on on the battlefield.

Remember to tag all the cards mentioned.

Blurred Mongoose has Shroud, which means that it cannot be the target of a spell or ability, regardless of who controls it. Wrath of God says "Destroy all creatures. The can't be regenerated." Since this does not target Blurred Mongoose, shroud is irrelevant.

As well, Shroud doesn't actually "protect" anything from anything, as protection has a very specific meaning in Magic. All it does is prevent that object from being the target of spells or abilities which use the word "target"
