Brainstorming Miracles

Asked by FALLEN-X-ANGEL 9 years ago

Suppose a player casts a Brainstorm s on his/her opponents turn and properly draws his/her 3 cards (one at a time). If that player draws a miracle such as Terminus , is he/she able to cast it since it's the first card he/she drew that turn, or is he/she not because it's a sorcery?

The player can cast it. Miracle ignores timing restrictions (in fact, it has to, since you can't cast a sorcery during your own draw step either in normal circumstances).

Note that they will have to finish resolving Brainstorm (including putting cards back), before the Terminus can be cast and resolve.

Note also that if the player wants to cast Terminus for its miracle cost, he or she must immediately reveal the card as it is being drawn (before it touches the rest of the cards in his or her hand) and before drawing the other two cards. Terminus must remain revealed throughout Brainstorm's resolution.

Also, over half of all miracle spells are sorceries. You cast the spell while the miracle ability is resolving. It'd be impossible to do that with a sorcery if you had to follow the timing restrictions of the spell.
