Braids and beginning of upkeep

I have Gate to the AEther in my Braids, Conjurer Adept EDH deck. My question is: If I bring in the gate with Braids at the beginning of my upkeep, can the gate still proc that turn?

Note that "proc" is not a term in Magic. "Proc" stands for "programmed random occurrence," which signifies effects that don't always happen. Triggered abilities always trigger when their trigger conditions are met.

No, it cannot. Abilities cannot retroactively trigger. If at the beginning of the upkeep, when Braids, Conjurer Adept's ability triggers, the Gate to the AEther is not on the battlefield, its ability will not trigger when it does enter the battlefield. You will have to wait for your next upkeep to roll around to get its ability.
