Asked by Rhinowarrior 9 years ago

If i hit a player with brago, who is enhcanted by a Battle Mastery , do I have the option to blink all my things twice since I am hitting the player two seperate times?

It would be nice if you could link Bargo, as I have no idea what card that is. If the card reads "When Bargo deals damage you my blink all the things" then you cannot blink things twice because you would be blinking him before his regular combat damage takes place. If it reads "--Deals damage, until end of turn you may blink all the things, then yes I could see you being able to blink twice because its two separate triggers.

When double strike or first strike are added to the mix a whole separate combat damage step is created with another set of priority between it and the normal combat damage step.

Brago's ability read "When Brago, King Eternal deals combat damage to a player, exile any number of target nonland permanents you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control."

So your Battle Mastery Brago, King Eternal flies over and goes unblocked. That ability triggers from the first strike damage step. Once everyone has passed priority on it, the ability resolves and you can flickers your permanents. Once everyone passes priority again then normal combat damage will happen and the ability will trigger again, that is if you didn't flicker Battle Mastery off Brago, King Eternal or Brago, King Eternal out of combat.

You would be able to blink any number of target non-land permanents that you control each time he deals damage. Of note though is that any creature you blink will be removed from combat since it is a new object. So you would not want to blink Barago the first time or any creature that you want to deal damage in the normal combat damage step.

You don't get to chose what order things are blinked because his ability blinks them all at the same time. They will however each see each other thing enter because they enter at the same time.

The text reads 'exile any number', so you don't have to exile anything. A permanent gets exiled only if you choose to exile it. If you choose to exile Brago before he deals regular combat damage (with the trigger when he deals first strike damage) then he doesn't deal his regular damage and the ability doesn't trigger. It's also worth noting that if you do choose to blink him, the enchantment gets sacrificed.

thanks guys. do permanents keep counters when flickered?

No, they become new objects when flickered. Specifically, they are considered a different object any time that they change zone, and flickering puts it in exile first.

Yes, it's a nonland permanent and you control it.
