Bomat Courier question !

Asked by Octopussie 7 years ago

Hello ! Once i saw this card i begun to wonder:

Let's supose i play one Bomat Courier T1, and swing with it.On turn 2 i once again swing with it ( 2 top cards exiled ).Turn 3 i attack with it one more time, gettin 3 cards exiled this way.On turn 4 my opponent kills the little robbot, and i end up with 3 exiled cards that i cant use,

What happens if i play another Bomat Courier in late game, and use its ability to pay R and discard my hand ? Do i get the exiled cards that my first Bomat Courier made ?

Thanks in advance !

You don't. In fact, you wouldn't even get it if you would get the same Courier back in the game.

Whenever a card states it's own name, it references to that specfic object, not any card with the same name. This is also the reason for the weird wording on Gisela, the Broken Blade, which illustrates this concept very nicely.

No.

Whenever a card uses its name in its text, it's a self-reference and merely means "this particular object." An exception would be if the text read "cards named ~," in which case the effect would care about any card with that name, not just one particular object. For example, Mimic Vat's abilities refer to the particular instance of Mimic Vat, whereas Cylian Sunsinger's ability affects any card with the given name.

Oh ! Ok so, the cards exiled with one Bomat will stay exiled if the same dies. Ok, understood, thanks !!

However, you should realize that you can just pay the one red and sacrifice your Bombat Courier in response to whatever killed him, sacrifice him, and get the exiled cards, assuming you need those three cards by turn 4, that is.

It should also be noted that even if your Courier is flickered with something like Long Road Home that you'll lose the cards it exiled.
