Being 'dealt damage'

Hornet Nest says "whenever HN is dealt damage, put that many... ect." So if it blocks a 7/7 without trample, do I get 7 1/1s since it was dealt 7 damage, or do I get a 1/1 since it was only dealt the damage once? I believe it is the first option, but just want to make sure.

It says "Whenever Hornet Nest is dealt damage, put that many 1/1....". So it depends on how much damage is actually dealt to it.
In your situation, it'll be 7, since the Nest was dealt 7 damage.
