When playing Avacyn, Angel of Hope and then I play Armageddon does Avacyn protect my permanents or is this considered a board wipe.
I'm not sure what you mean by "considered a board wipe." Board wipe is a colloquial term, not a game term. Avacyn, Angel of Hope gives your permanents indestructible, which does protect against many board wipes. If you cast Day of Judgment with Avacyn out, your creatures will not be destroyed, because they are indestructible. If you cast Final Judgment with Avacyn out, your creatures will be exiled, because indestructible only prevents destruction, not exile.
So, to answer the initial question, yes, Avacyn will protect your lands from Armageddon, but not from Worldfire. Will protect them from cycling Decree of Annihilation, but not from casting it.

Avacyn gives your other permanents indestructible, meaning they can't be destroyed. Armageddon, which destroys lands, will not affect indestructible lands.
