Are Halimar Depths and Seachrome Coast technically islands?

Asked by theindigoeffect 7 years ago

The reason I ask is to determine whether a card like Vedalken Shackles would be viable in deck with roughly four to five basic islands.

However, I have three non-basic lands that produce blue mana, and at least six dual lands that produce blue mana, but I don't know if dual lands are technically islands.

As always, thanks for your input.

An "Island" is a card with the basic land type "Island" in its type line. Neither Halimar Depths nor Seachrome Coast have that subtype, so they aren't Islands. Tapping for a certain color of mana doesn't make a card a certain land type.

Okay, thank you.

Also note that some dual lands do count towards the Shackles, like Breeding Pool or Sunken Hollow, as it still has the subtype Island.

Dual lands like Drowned Catacomb or Simic Guildgate don't count because, while they tap for mana symbol u, they don't have the Island subtype.
