Another Narset question! This time with enchantments.

Asked by InDirectX 9 years ago

Because Narset's ability resolves during the combat phase, does this mean you can't cast enchantments to affect Narset before Narset, Enlightened Master is able to be blocked by enemy creatures?

Let's say we're wanting to use Reconnaissance.

Nope, none of the timing restriction on casting spells are ignored with Narset. You only get the alternative cost of free until the end of turn.

FREEDOM! That's significantly better than I expected.

I think you may have mis-read the answer? It did use "nope" in a vague way.

You -can't- cast a non-instant during the combat phase in which her ability triggers. The alternative cost of "without paying its mana cost" lasts until the end of the turn, which means after combat, you're free to play other types of non-creature spell.

Not-so-freedom! That's kind of what I thought upfront, thanks kind commenter.

Yeah, sorry about the confusion, should have been more clear.
