Ajani, mentor of heros +1 counter priority + sage of hours

Say my Sage of Hours has 4 +1 counters on it at the end of my turn. On my next turn I do Ajani, Mentor of Heroes first +1 ability. As I understand it because Ajani, Mentor of Heroes says put "3 +1/+1 counters...",this means that they are put on one at a time even if its on the same creature. So I can put the first +1/+1 counter on my Sage of Hours hold priority remove 5 counters to activate the sage's ability then put the other two counters on it after i have done so. Am I right?

The counters from Ajani, Mentor of Heroes are places simultaneously. Furthermore, even if they weren't, you couldn't use the activated ability of Sage of Hours in between the individual counters being placed, because no player has priority to do things such as activate abilities while a spell or ability (such as Ajani's) is resolving).
TL;DR: No, that's not possible.
