about kheru spellsnatcher and something like cranial archive

Asked by syilphion 9 years ago

as i read the card Kheru Spellsnatcher say you can cast that card as long as it remain exiled, then what happen with the card that, somehow after casted, exiled again, like i counter Cranial Archive then cast it, then activate the ability, Cranial Archive exiled again, do i can cast it again?

if my understanding in english and magic right," as long as it remain exiled" mean after the card not exiled anymore, even it exiled again you cannot cast it again, do i right? or do i wrong? is there any better explanation? i afraid my friend doesn't understand my point

If the card is cast, it is no longer in exile - it will end up on the battlefield if it is a permanent or in the graveyard if it is an instant or sorcery or is countered. If it is somehow moved again into exile via Banishing Light or whatever it CANNOT be cast again.

If the spell is ever moved from the exile zone, it is no longer castable with the effect of Kheru. The effect, like almost all other effects, CANNOT track the spell as it moves around the various zones.

When an object moves from one zone to another, the game treats it as a completely new object with no relation to what it was before (minus a few exceptions that don't apply here). The Cranial Archive that was cast from exile and then exiled again with its own ability is a different object than the card that was exiled by Kheru Spellsnatcher 's ability, and won't interact with that ability.
