What is this "competitiveness" meter on my decks?

TappedOut forum

On the bottom of some of my decks, such as My Mairsil Test List, a bar shows up under the mana curve that supposedly says how competitive the deck is. What is this? When was it added? How is it calculated? On some decks its there and on others its not. WHY???

It comes to deck when you update it i think.

That why it is there i have no idea.

I've been quite curious about this myself. Though I certainly consider myself a casual player, I'm perplexed as to why the "competitiveness" of my EDH decks are rated between 23-51%. Does Sol Ring account for 20% or something? (my group has a casual ban on Sol Ring)

N4kk1 is right in saying that it appears when you update each deck, but I don't believe it's entirely consistent in that. What I can say for certain is that the meter has not shown up on any deck I have NOT edited in the past couple days.

i would hazard a guess in saying it is calculated by the quantity of cards in your deck that are in tier 1 or 2 lists on mtggoldfish.

ya must have something to do with card "value" (not monetary) or maybe known interactions? Maybe we could science it by creating a total bunk deck with all the best cards but no synergy or win con?

One of my best decks is rated 80% casual. My Living End and Chereos decks are not rated.

THE WHOLE THING SEEMS TOTALLY LAME. IF THERE WAS A FORMULA FOR COMPETITIVENESS WE'D ALL BE ON THE PRO TOUR.

PLEASE AT LEAST LET ME TURN IT OFF.

This already had a forum page a few days ago. You might find the answers you seek on that page.

Indeed there was a forum where many questions were answered. Currently I believe it accounts for both card "value" and card synergy, as well as i believe comparing it to known competitive lists that share its type.

Quoting yeaGO here, though this could have changed since then:

"Its based on the currently tagged casual and competitive decks on the site. Obviously, there is a lot of murky data lurking there, but as with most features on the site, its better to start rough and get feedback and tune. There's a lot of data, so there are a lot of knobs we can tune to try to shape the result into something that makes sense and is agreeable to most folks."

What I'm confused about is I build a deck and it says I have 84% competitive. I then go into the list and copy the list and add a brand new deck with the identical deck, with identical hubs, and all everything the same and it then say it is 84% casual.

I got my strongest competitive deck I’ve ever seen at 97%. Now mind you I haven’t a blooming clue how I did it but maybe my deck might help this question cause I have asked it my self. I have a low budget deck that’s barely 20% competitive yet it hits for 15 damage possible by turn 3 or 4 and way faster then my affinity deck. I worked hard on the deck and saved money for a lot of good cards and one day I noticed how competitive it was.
