We can't talk about the leaks from ixilan?

I just read a thread that someone said they got the ban hammer for talking about the leaks. Why can't we talk about them? Where a magic community we should talk about all things magic related. They're online for the whole world to see. Why ignore the new cards coming out? I'm excited about them I'm sure the admins that made the rule are excited about them. So it just seems really pointless to make it rule we can't talk about them. Well be talking about them in person and on other forums. And if you don't want to look at them or talk about them you don't have to. The rule is just needlessly censoring people

shadow63,
I'm not sure what the story is behind the post you read elsewhere, but here are a couple relevant threads:

And some key quotes by yeaGO (from the second thread):

  • If they aren't legit spoilers, then they aren't eligible to be on the site. I don't care where else they might appear.
  • The behavior I was seeing earlier was a no-name account linking to pictures of sheets of spoiled images, and when I deleted that post, other people restored those links in a new thread and other discussions. This site is not to be used to drive traffic to such leaks. Of course you're free to discuss such things, and I leave all that up to your discretion, but hyper-links to or copied description of leaked content is not allowed.

clayperce that still doesn't mean it's not a silly rule that doesn't make sense. Like I said before you don't have look at them if you don't want to. And people should always take leaks with a grain of salt as they don't always turn out to be real.

The stance is based on the damage that occurred when Oath of the Gatewatch was leaked. Leaks have a cost, which this article enumerates.

This site's stance is that we do not want to encourage or support engagement in these activities.

Please direct further discussion to the stickied thread linked by clayperce.

See, what I don't get is that the announcement linked above specificially states the following:

"Rumors or speculation about new formats"

But why? What's so terrible about someone, for example, creating a thread discussing how they think that cards released in the past year are indicative of Wizards moving towards card design that supports better gameplay in Frontier. That thread is essentially a dumb little theory about how Wizards will adopt Frontier somewhere down the line.

What's up with these rules? Because that thread's going to lead to a ban the way the rules are phrased. Or is that somehow ok but saying the same based off of the design of Ixalon cards is not?

None of this makes any sense. I get that hyper sensitive reaction to a certain extent, but that's just pushing it.
