Mass commenting to obtain votes

TappedOut forum

Hi all!So I was logging in to my various accounts across various sites, and noticed I had gotten a comment on my wall from a "KINGofORESKOS" reading:

Hi there! I have these 2 Modern decks and 1 article made into a deck. I was wondering if you could look at these for me, maybe give some suggestions (or an upvote hehe), as I am really pushing to get all three decks into the top 20. Here are the Modern decks: Extreme Ramp and Punny Cat Tribal. My article/deck is this one. All suggestions and upvotes are appreciated, as they make the deck better and give it a higher ranking. Thanks, KINGofORESKOS

At first I was flattered... until I looked on said users page and saw their "recent comments" was filled with identical messages towards numerous users.

Being a Reddit man, my immediate thought was "Karmawhore". While I know Reddit has rules condemning this, I do not know about TappedOut's rules on trying to obtain votes in this manner.

Thanks!

Just noticed that he has indeed messaged a very large number of users, and not just those on the top helper lists.

I agree that the practice is quite distasteful. You should probably delete the comment from your own profile, not comply with the request, and leave a message expressing your concerns on the offending person's profile. Perhaps if enough people express their displeasure, the person in question will curtail their behavior.

I have also received his/her post. Don't realize how many walls they'd posted on.

Generally I'm okay with the practice to a point.

People need to limit it to just the top helpers, or people who played similar decks(thinking EDH here). Spamming every account in sight is just obnoxious. Also upvoting/commenting on someone's deck before asking for help(again thinking about EDH decks you want to build) goes a long way.

Guys, I'm really, really sorry. I really, really do regret my actions, and I asked for all those comments to be deleted. I'm not going to make any excuses, and I know I deserve to be banned, and I told this to yeaGO. Again, I'm really sorry, and I was actually crying when I realized how much people hated what I was doing.

Is there anything I can do to make up for it, other than righting a writing apology to every person, which I'm already doing?

Well what you did wasn't nice but it wasn't the worst thing either. You could always look at the decks of the people you messaged and give them sincere feedback, especially for those who did respond to your request.

If anybody looks at my recent comments, I wrote a bunch of customized apologies, not just copy pasted.

Agree with Elgosu. Apologize in upvotes and comments :)

KINGofORESKOS it may not have been a great thing to do, but you're not the only user here that I've seen do that cut n paste begging.

At least you were big enough to acknowledge that you'd made a mistake, and offered to make it up to people.

That's more than I've seen other users do.

We all make mistakes. It's how we then handle those mistakes that truly shows what type of people we are.
