Yeah I was at HASCON with my daughter and stopped by to try Arena. It was definitely Magic meets Hearthstone UI. It wasn't a particularly intuitive interface but once I got the hang of it, it worked well enough.

I asked about solo play for those of us with kids who sometimes get interrupted mid game and they didn't know if it will have that but were going to take my feedback and pass it along. We shall see.

@amazingronaldo,

Ryan Spain (one of the designers) was just on Limited Resources and did a Q & A. It sounded like it was leaning towards no campaign mode / true solo out of the gates, but I suspect it will be one of the more commonly desired features asked for during beta, so maybe it gets added before launch.

I thought the animations were cool if a little overwrought, but I hope they move towards a boardspace that looks more like table Magic. The small board, big cards thing will look really odd with complicated Constructed boardstates, plus the perspective is really weird. I'd like more of a middle ground between MTGO, which is ugly and boring, and Magic Duels, which was oversimplified and boring...

Speaking of, since this is directly replacing Magic Duels, I'd hope they'd put in an AI/solo adventure mode! I think you're both correct that it'll be highly desired.

@Dracoson Thanks! I will go check out that podcast! Hopefully feedback will inspire them to add a PvE mode like Duels had. That worked out for me well, and when I had time where no one would interrupt I liked playing 2HG with a friend and regular PvP play.
