How to Arrange the Order of Custom Categories?

I understand there's a checkbox which will reorder custom categories to ensure they appear evenly, but I specifically want "Ramp" to appear directly under the "Land". Categories that combo together should directly under eachother, etc.

I assumed the order you type the list of categories without checking the "Reorder categories" box would determine how they would appear, but this doesn't seem to be the case. It would make everything appear more organized and less chaotic.

How does it order it when you don't want it reordered? In the order it appears in the list on the update page? Alphabetically? Some other order?

The order is rearranged alphabetically. When I return to the Edit screen the list of categories is rearranged to match the order the site wants it to be instead of the order I initially typed.

It may help to know that when I arrange each category I mark them with a # and nothing else. If I'm doing something wrong then this would be it.

Then, what do you think about putting a number before each category?

I think that does absolutely nothing and it would be nice if you were way more specific.

I tested this out some.

The easiest way to get it to do what you want would be the following:

#Section_1:_Ramp
#Section_2:_Lands

It is not ideal, but it will get the job done.

This will order things alphabetically. Since the number is the first point of difference, it will go in numerical order, so long as you stick with single digits.

If that is a bit too intrusive, you could try using the section sign to slim things down some:

#§ _1_Ramp
#§ _2_Lands

Ok, that does makes sense. If it didn't change the way each category appeared, I would absolutely do that from now on. It sounds like the best solution available.

Experiment with symbols like > too, maybe something can hide the number.
