Having trouble adjusting to the new binder look

TappedOut forum

Posted on Oct. 12, 2014, 1:02 p.m. by TheAnnihilator

It appears to me that tappedout matches my haves to other users haves and my wants to their wants when I'm viewing another user's binder. For example, this is a snapshot of 8vomit's binder from my point of view (sorry to single you out, 8vomit):

The issue is, I don't think these are actually matches... I don't have any of these three listed in my wants, but I do have these three listed under my "haves" (I double checked, they're in the right place in my binder). These must be some of 8vomit's haves, since it lists them under his "has" column. Therefore, these aren't matches at all. Why is tappedout listing them as matches? This is just a few of many more incorrect "matches", and it's the same when viewing other users binders too. Could this be fixed, because I'm an avid trader and this is very confusing for me.

Im personally not a fan of the new set up. I have that similar issue and it makes me just not want to trade because I don't even know what they want.

@2austin5 Agree'd. It's not very easy on the eyes, And I've always disliked list's that involve me scrolling through pages. I thought the initial trade binder setup was super super easy.

I am not the biggest fan of it personally, but all that you have to do is look for the match symbol that is shaded blue. That being said, is it possible to revert back?

I like the new set up. It is convenient for me, I will say I wish they were all on the same page, and I have not yet encountered the match issue. But overall, it incorporates more information in a system that is easier for me to read. Though I will say I do 99% of my tappedout browsing on my phone, and the previous binder system was difficult to check cards without clicking them. Note 2 for the win. Just hover the stylus and it activates the visual link without triggering the hyperlink. :p

2austin5 That's exactly how i feel.

I can't stand the new binder system, I liked to be able to quickly scroll through someone's binder and see what all was highlighted and quickly tell if i'd be able to make a trade with them. Now i'ts a little confusing, especially with the incorrect matches, and most people have 10-20 pages of cards, while some people have twice that, which makes it take a while to look through someones binder (especially if i'm going through several people's binders looking to trade a specific card). If there would at least be two separate sections, one for wants and one for haves, then it would make it a little better.

miracleHat I do see the blue shaded match if I have something in my haves that they have in their wants. BUT I also see matches shaded in blue when the user has something in their wants that I also have in my wants. In this picture we both have shock lands in our wants, and neither of us have any of these in our haves.

I see the white match when they have something in their haves that I have in my wants. BUT the white match also shows up if we both have the same card in our haves. We both have these cards in our haves, and neither of us have them in our wants.

Another thing that bothers me about the new binders is that the prices aren't 100% accurate. They're close, but not exact. If you're going to have the prices there, the price database should be updated frequently.

The price API has been broken for a while now so don't expect it to update at all Wolfninja. XP

Blizzicane I know, what i'm saying is that since they're going to put the prices on the binder page, they should start updating the prices frequently. If they don't start updating it frequently, then there's no point in having the prices on the binder page.

What I'd personally like to see is the older binder setups, but with TCG Mid prices set up alongside the card tag in the binder. Honestly, adding the pricing is really the only thing I liked about the new setup.

Is it possible to setup a system that would automatically check the current mid price from a reliable website when you hovered over the Card-name and displayed it along with the visual spoiler? Then you could check the visuals of the card and the mid price when necessary and devote other some space to other things. I haven't actually seen any new system for trade binders yet. Only read what's on this thread, but I'm going to check it out for myself now.

Also, speaking from the POV of a colorblind person, the shading of the match buttons is not distinct enough. I can tell they are different, but I cannot scan the page to see what's a match easily enough.

Seeing how they aren't here yet, what does yeaGO/Epochalyptik have to say about this?

I've spent a bit of time looking and trying to utilize the new formats for the binder section. I have found that it looks too cluttered in it's current version and it's too confusing to match exactly what they want/are looking for(specifically; Quantities, how many I currently have listed myself, and specific printings. Although I know the latter was difficult in the previous version as well) Personally I would like to see two separate lists. Wants and Haves worked really well for me because of how clean and simple it was. I could load up a binder page. look for any Yellow I think...could have been Green (I am a tab bit color blind) and compare that to the things I was looking for. I also liked how it was also categorized by card type a lot. That alone was probably the most practical aspect I miss from the previous version. When it comes to adding cards into and removing from binders. (I haven't experimented with this all yet) If the same format for making decks is used(the card search area is my best description of it. Located to the left of "Mainboard", "Sideboard", ect.). It would be much easier for the user to dictate what printing each card(s) is from. Due to being able to type the full name of the set, instead of learning all of the abbreviations and syntax. Also, if multiple pages are felt as needed. You could also take another aspect from the deckbuilder format and have priority wants and haves pages, ie; Topmost, General, and maybe "Wishlist" for wants, and Decked, Loose, and possibly "Bulk" for haves.

I'm mostly typing these thoughts and suggestions as they come to me, so I do apologize if I am being too critical, but as a community member and avid user of the tools this site has to offer. I feel I should at least state my opinion. Even if I am an asshole, er. I mean...if it stinks. = D

I agree with everyone that isn't a huge fan of the new set up. I like to be able to see everything a person has when trading to that I can sometimes find semi-wanted filler cards that I dont necessarily have listed. I do like the addition of the price, but the old version was much easier on the eyes. Tappedout, please do something about this.

October 18, 2014 4:20 p.m.

So, I've been doing a lot of trading with the new system. As far as I can tell, the bugs have been fixed. I like the new system. I love being able to use the advanced search settings to filter into only haves and/or matches, and then have the binder list them by card prices. If there were some kind of auto-TCG-price-updater or something, that'd be great. As of yet, I still switch over to a tcgplayer internet-tab and price the cards like that (I just use the listed prices in the binder as a rough price estimate.) Otherwise, after the bug fix, I'm liking the new changes. So, yeah.

Thanks a bunch yeaGO for getting some stuff worked out with the matches, etc. Also, don't change the binder formatting back, it's pretty nice now that the matches are correct.

yeaGO says... #18

hash-brown can't you just use the filter option to search only matches??

October 18, 2014 7:04 p.m.

hash-brown says... #19

yes absolutely, yeaGO. The biggest gripe I have is the difficulty to shuffle through cards that aren't a match because Im just trying to find filler cards or something like that.

yeaGO says... #20

hash-brown hmmm i'm having trouble isolating what particular fix would be best based on your feedback.

Couldn't you sort by price at that point to check for whatever else might fill? Or something?

miracleHat says... #21

@yeaGO, i do like the advance filters, they help a lot!

October 19, 2014 7:43 p.m.

hash-brown says... #22

I guess the easiest way to summarize my issue is that its nice being able to see everything on one page and go through it all quickly. That being said I do appreciate the filters and the column for price.

October 19, 2014 11:45 p.m.

yeaGO says... #23

So maybe get rid of pagination?

October 20, 2014 8:52 a.m.

Yeah getting rid of pages would be nice. I also like the price column, but I think the prices have been off for a while, so it doesn't seem to be worth having unless the prices are right.

October 20, 2014 10:51 a.m.

yeaGO says... #25

i redid the prices kinda recently they should be closer... are they?

October 20, 2014 2:40 p.m.

I think they're up to date

October 20, 2014 3:50 p.m.

Wolfninja says... #27

I found a random glitch

It just showed up on someone's binder, even though they had 0 in their wants.

Also, the prices aren't very up to date. As in the picture, Mass Calcify is listed as $1.42 and it's currently $0.28. Another example is Jeskai Ascendancy , it shows that it's almost $8, but ti's really $5. There are plenty of other examples as well. I think that the price column should be removed until an auto-updater can be set up.
