Edit?

TappedOut forum

Can we add a edit button? I can't tell you how many times I go to submit something as a comment or as a post and I look back later kicking myself for not capitalizing something or improper punctuation.

Can this be a thing?

Or the Insert-Foot-In-Mouth moments? I need an eraser, thats why I use pencils.

I really think an Edit button would be an awesome idea. Maybe if it put 'Edited' on the corner of the post as well so people couldn't claim to have said something else and sneaky change it.

Smart. That might work.

I like the idea to be able to delete a comment if there was a double post, though i can see it being problematic because of drama. (i cant tell you how often i accidentally double post). I also like the idea of adding an "edited" button. As on fb, with the edited button you can see all of the history of the edits, so that would be cool.

I prefer there to be a chance to delete a comment that is over so many hours/days old. so I can declutter some of the stuff that has been on forever. And not have to have a pointless comment clean up update.

Ya, for me it's been a while and I might have forgotten how to tag cards in the comment..... So it look like "You might want a or a. And you could also add and." Edit button please!

It's a relevant request. And it's from a couple of months ago, not exactly ancient.

Probably the most requested missing feature. yeaGO has put his foot down multiple times.

Everybody take note of that picture, though.

@sharang3

It is definitely an interesting request as I said I liked the area when this was a new post. :P The original post is from August of 2012 not 2014 however.

For me it's because I'm subscribed to it.

Perks of commenting on almost everything.

I googled 'Tappedout edit comment' and this comes up, so according to google this is the most relevant thread about editing comments.

wow, so im not the only one who had this problem. What kind of a forum doesn't have something as simple and basic as a delete or edit button? This is ridiculous. Im sorry but I just dont see myself using this site without this simple level of functionality. Its insane.

Ohthenoises says... #19

EMPARAWR Upgraded users do have the ability to edit but only on their decks and threads. I know WHY tappedout does this, it's to prevent things like this from coming up.

User 1:"I hate everyone lolz uber leet!"
User 2:"You're an idiot."

Edit montage.

User 1:"I love my mother, she's such a sweet lady."
User 2:"You're an idiot."

Like I said, I know WHY, I just don't think it would be abused that bad.

or if an actual problem occurs, it prevents users from deleting entire conversations.

maybe if it was like Facebook, where it saves the original version then it'd be okay.

"A problem"? Webpages have changelogs. If an administrator needs to investigate, these changes are... well, they're logged. On the change log.

And what kind of 'problem' could arise? Internet hate arguments? So what? It seems much more useful for a good commenter to be able to make quality changes, such as card references, formatting, etc. in one thread instead of flooding a board. On the other hand, people who rage in the scenario Ohthenoises described really just don't matter.

September 22, 2014 6:25 p.m.

EMPARAWR says... #23

Yeah I just dont see this being a problem. It isn't on other websites. Most have the functionality to see what the original post looked like. Or hell, even just a delete button to wipe a whole thread if you would rather redo what you wrote up and dont want to spam up the boards, which is how this lack of functionality came to my attention. This is fundamental ultra basic functionality. To not have this function makes me feel like im living in the late 90s again or something. It's ridiculous. It has become a major reason why I am liking some of the other MTG forums I have investigated far more. Basic design issues can have a huge impact on how users feel about a site, and this one has several issues, this one is just the biggest, most obvious. To tell you the truth im a bit disappointed considering how much I had heard about how tappedout.net had the largets community and whatnot. I've been finding far better functionality, design, and community response, over at mtgsalvation so far and I posted the same intro topic on 6 different forums to test the waters.
