Deck Changes wont save using Google Chrome.

TappedOut forum

I've been updating my decks on a daily basis since I started on this site. I noticed that as of last night when ever I make a change on one of my decks the changes don't save (or only partially save).

I've been trying to remove "Hushwing Griff" from my deck for a few hours now and its weird:

  • In the deck itself it shows 1 in the deck
  • In editing mode, it shows as "0x Hushwing Griff"

I have tried:

  • Using quick add / remove
  • Using the editing page
  • With my add-blocker on
  • With my add-blocker off

The issue does not seem to happen with IE or Firefox. When I used either of these browsers I could add / remove cards as much as I wanted.

Not sure what changed last night, but looks like there is an issue with Chrome (or at least I am having an issue with it and Tappedout).

Please retest and let me know if it's still happening

Tried again in Chrome / Firefox and got the same results.

So looks like the issue is around adding, not removing.

The deck updates 100% fine in Chrome when adding cards. But when I try to remove a card it will just revert the changes in Chrome.

I can then go to firefox, update the deck (remove the card) and everything is fine. I go back to Chrome, refresh and the deck updates to show what was changed in firefox. I still can't remove cards in Chrome though.

I tried with:

  • Hushwing Griff
  • Starke of Rath
  • Ulamog, the ceaseless hunger
  • Maze of Ith

Just to make sure it wasn't an issue with the individual card.

I also tried in three of my decks:

  • "Karona - Pinball - Budget"
  • "FUN with a capital FU"
  • "Odric fun stuff"

To make sure it wasn't just an issue with 1 of my decks.

All of which are prototypes, EDH, and private.

interest, thanks for all of the detail. when you do 'save and continue editing', does it show it as updated? by remove, do you mean remove a whole card vs removing some quantity?

So I think this might be on my side now but I'm not sure how to fix it...

I just tried to make changes in Chrome in Incognito mode and everything works fine. But when I'm in regular mode it won't let me remove stuff.

As to your questions:

When I 'save and continue editing' it shows as updated until I refresh the page / make another change. At that point it reverts back.

Remove card and remove quantity act the same.

New thing I noticed while trying this out is that if I only add cards it updates fine. But if I remove cards then it reverts, even if I add and remove at the same time.

So:

  • Add (Works)
  • Remove (Doesn't work)
  • Add + Remove (Doesn't work)

Firefox + Chrome in Incognito mode work,Regular Chrome doesn't

If its on my side, I'm sorry if I wasted a bunch of your time >.<

It's interesting nonetheless. Can you disable extensions and test again?

Well it worked when I turned my extensions off, but now everything is working once I turned them back on. So I think one of my extensions was causing the issue on my end.

I only have 3:

  • google docs
  • google docs offline
  • ublock origin

I was still getting issues when I turned off ublock origin before (since you have a note saying the add block software can cause issues with the site). It was the first thing I tried.

I don't know why turning the google extensions off and on again would fix the issue, but its the only thing I didn't try when testing before so I assume its related (unless turning off my add block is different now than before, I don't know).

If this comes back I'll try turning my extensions off one at a time to see if I can find out which one is causing an issue exactly (I unfortunately turned them all off simultaneously this time, wasn't thinking, should have known better).

Alright did more testing and looks like it ended up being my add blocker after all. Not sure why the issue didn't resolve when I disabled the extension before, might have been a different domain it linked to some times? not sure... but ya.

It was tied to it blocking google analytics:

www.google-analytics.com/ga.js$script,domain=tappedout.net

As soon as I allowed access to this site everything was fixed for me.

I feel like an ass for wasting your time on this. It really didn't fix it when I turned off my add blocker before and as such I spent a tonne of your time and I guess mine trying to find a fix for this when you never needed to :(.

Sorry, I really do feel terrible. (1. for wasting your time, and 2. For being one of those "did you turn it off and on again" type people with my issue).

No problem at all, it's actually a very valuable find for the site. Thanks for sticking with it.
