Changing Up the Token Set

With the release of the KTK tokens and me being the card database "leader" at the moment, I propose a few changes to how the token set should be handled, and this is mainly due to the title of the tokens.

While the purpose of this set is ambiguous, there isn't much use for this set beyond traders. And even then, I have not seen one person trade a token card. This set does not dictate the token database for the playtester, as that is an admin only thing.

In that respect, here is how I suggest the title should be.

Let's consider the Swan Song token. The token is this: Bird 2/2 U THS 4 .

Now if we consider this, it has a bunch of stuff after the name of the token that normally wouldn't be there on any other card. This is to separate each individual token, we have 3 different 1/1 spirits, some with flying some without and some tokens can appear in the same set numerous times but with different stats. This is also nice because now we can put in every artwork for every token.

So lets go with how to name a token in this classification system.

Name P/T Colour Set Number

Bird 2/2 U THS 4

The first 4 are very obvious, set TLC is listed on our set page as well. The last is the number that appears on the bottom of the card. This Swan Song token has 4/11, so we put down 4.

However, for emblems or utility cards like morph, it is much simpler. Utility cards that represent a specific keyword don't ever get changed, so therefore the only that is needed for them is their title. As for emblems, it should be like this: Emblem - Elspeth Sun's Champion. The name emblem and then the planeswalker it belongs to,

There is practically nothing in the set at the moment, so it should be really easy to swap to this format. I can change the names of the cards that are in there currently. We can discuss any other ideas people may have for this.

Are we talking about adding a database for tokens in the playtester or trade?

Playtester tokens are handled by the high level admins, so I'm assuming that this is just for trade.

I'm thinking that that shouldn't be the case, however.

I'm talking about the token set, not the token database. I can add tokens to the database for use on the playtester, but I cannot directly assign tokens to individual cards in the playtester as that is a matter of the coding in the playtester which I'm pretty sure only yeago has access to.

Ah...So why are we fixing the set if no one trades tokens?

Technically not fixing, just changing it up. I can't just, you know, change a set structure of naming without making an announcement of it now can I?

But why are you doing this? Lol. Don't get me wrong "i felt like it" is a very valid answer. I'm just curious

Not actually seeing any difference in admin status options yeaGO. Where am I to look?

And yes, I'm doing this because I feel like it, and mainly, because I feel it is an excellent structure once I start to populate the token set.

Look for Tokens and Token printings you can then add a card to a token.

So it isn't setting a token to a specific card, but rather the token printing itself? Does the playtester checks for tokens by looking to see if there are any tokens with the printing of that token belonging to the same set?

if you pull up a token and associate a card there, after some delay for cache the token should magically appear in the playtester.

While I got your attention, while I was added tokens, I noticed this: Wall?. I'm wondering exactly why we have a wall section on our sorting.

I was also curious if a token section would now apply because I'm actually populating the token set?

I guess Wall changed since we created that system.

I don't really get your last question.

Since we have a token set (I just one day found it there, must have been added around Theros) I thought it might be nice to have a token section on the decks page. To separate the tokens from the creatures. While I'm sure no one will ever use it, I thought it might be an interesting little flavour touch for the site. Perhaps? Maybe? Your call, I like throwing around ideas.

Oh thanks yeago! Yay, now I get to do these after I make my first ever competitive standard deck. Well, it is already done, I just need to add the cards. Then I'll do the tokens (won't take me long) and then I'll finish the rest of the set.
