Why does Wizards reprint cards so soon after the original printing?

The other day, I was looking through the M15 card list that is in the booklet that comes in each fat pack you get. I noticed that both Oppressive Rays and Satyr Wayfinder are in M15. Both were just printed in Theros block, so why do they need core set reprints? And in the very next core set at that? It's not like they were rares or mythics in the last set and were just downgraded in M15; they're both at the same rarity as their originals.

It just doesn't make much sense to me, is all.

They're for Limited. That's about it. They thought, "We'd like a card that does this," and since they serve that purpose, they added it to the set.

I can't help but feel like Wizards is resorting to something like this as "filler" for the sets and I'm kind of an anti-filler guy.

You're probably right about Limited, though. I rarely if ever draft, so I don't tend to take Limited into consideration right off the bat.

About the draft concept, there are many times when a one mana answer to Soul of Theros ect... will save you.

Often times there's design or development reasons for it as well. Lightning Strike was a functional reprint from Searing Spear before it, but the story goes that the card Lightning Strike original was got deemed to be too powerful. So rather than change it at last minute, which has historical lead to cards the likes of Tarmogoyf and Umezawa's Jitte , they went with something they knew wasn't going to upset the balance of either limited or constructed.

They do it because they need the mechanic but don't want to print functionally identical cards. Lightning Strike had the same thing happen. But would you really rather them print both Lightning Strike and Searing Spear in the same Standard rotation, making burn even stronger?
