White weenie, How many anthems??

So White has so many anthems right now (Spear of Heliod , Dictate of Heliod ) and so many ways to spam creatures (Brimaz, King of Oreskos ,Precinct Captain , Raise the Alarm ), I was thinking of making a white weenie deck with tons of anthems and maybe splashing green for cards like Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and Advent of the Wurm . What do you guys think? Which anthems are worth using? is this idea even viable competitively? What should be included and how much green should I include? I'm also open to other colors as well.

I think I would rather Obelisk of Urd than Dictate of Heliod because it's not a 5-drop, not really.

But then I'm limited to soldiers, both solid choices though.

Considering how many great soldiers there are, I don't think being limited to them is a bad thing.

It depends which way you really want to go.

Dictate is too expensive for WW (unless you are running Nykthos)I personally like 2-3 Anthems and it's generally Spear, but my current list is basically soldiers and Obelisk (as it is effectively a 3 drop in there).

If you're dropping Dictate of Heliod , you better be winning next turn.

Splashing for Ajani, Mentor of Heroes (Advent of the Wurm has GG in its mana cost, not really what you want from a splash) might be okay. The only problems are that, again, he's a 5-drop, so you better be winning this turn, and that he only buffs one creature. Otherwise, opening up to green also gives you access to things like Fleecemane Lion and Selesnya Charm .

Also, you may run into a bit of trouble from the landbase with green. When you lose Temple Garden , you don't have any access to a land that can immediately tap for either color. Temple of Plenty is good, but it coming tapped is a little detrimental to your aggro strategy.

If you're running white weenie, you can also consider running Paragon of New Dawns as a sort of anthem on legs.

It also happens to go with the 'Soldier' theme and can be cheated out with Preeminent Captain , which was also reprinted in M15.

Why do I have to win the turn I play the dictate? What if I followed it up with Elspeth? Not so bad then.

MTGJustice: Then your playing something else entirely. having a 6drop in your white weenie deck is doing it wrong, and your playing a midrange white deck instead. So if you want to play elspeth and dictate, go ahead. but you need to revise your topic and the questions your asking us, because we can't help you if your asking one thing and thinking about something completely different.

Usually white weenie runs 2 anthems. If you want to be aggresive, Spear of Heliod and Hall of Triumph are the suitable ones. If you want to be more midrange, Dictate of Heliod is a totally blowout. Also you can run Path of Bravery if you want to gain some life!

Path of Bravery is often overlooked and can pack some extra utility, but having that extra +1/+1 is almost always going to be better than gaining a few points of life.

I'd play 1 Spear of Heliod and probably 2 or 3 Hall of Triumph . Obelisk of Urd is a card people should really stop suggesting for aggro decks.

Dictate of Heliod could work as a spicy one-of, but not unless you're running at least 23 lands or so. Though, if your curve goes up to 3 (Mentor of Heroes is too slow and Ajani, Caller of the Pride is infinitely better for WW anyways), you should be packing closer to 21. Nykthos is always a thing, but I wouldn't run more than 2, making it less likely to appear, therefore negating the efficiency by decreasing consistency.

Legions of the Sun God 5-0 FNM runs three Spear of Heliod , and it usually works out just fine.

The very last thing you want, though, for a Weenie deck is having an anthem you can't cast. That deck has no real reason to run 3 copies of Spear. As I said previously, I'd suggest 1 Spear and 2 Hall of triumph. That way, you have a decent chance to stack the anthems.

Not a bad idea, stacking would be sweet!
