I want to make a standard deck that will survive post rotation, I'm thinking abzan, but I hear selensya is doing awesome, which is better? Which will be more powerful post rotation?

Stop. it's too early to know, we can't know, there's no good answers here. Don't even think about post rotation yet. It's far too early.

I second ThatJunkMage. It's way too early to tell. And play the crap out of theros and M15 until they're gone.

I have a guide on my profile called "rotation and you". It doesn't apply to this rotation, but last years, but the message is the same. Go read that. Please.

The best way I've found to make your deck rotation-resistant is to make sure the sleeves are adhesive so your opponent can't turn the deck on the table.

If you want real advice on a competitive deck, the posts above me sum it up nicely.

If you're looking to explore the current block/synergies/engage in a deck building exercise, my advice would be find the cards you know aren't rotating out that you enjoy playing and just experiment with different splashes and test out different synergies. That's probably not what you're asking for, but I enjoy different exercises in brewing/deck building, and at the end of the day, you'll only come away with more knowledge and familiarity with the cards surviving rotation.

... and then rotation will hit and it will all be useless most likely lol. But still fun.

Stop. If you want a deck that won't be hurt by a rotation, play modern. If you want to play standard but its a matter of price, build a cheaper deck. Build Red Deck Wins. You can'tbuild a deck that will be fine post rotation and will be good. Compare last seasons tier one decks to this standard, the only deck that remotely is still around is GR Monsters which is the Dragon deck, but even that is drastically different.

The best way to win post rotation is to keep playing your favorite deck but tweak it with the new cards. You could look at which decks utilize the most Tarkir cards, but you can't ever even hypothesize until spoiler season hits as a single card can affect the entire format (think Siege Rhino). If you run a few decks it will be easier to adapt quickly also. Any deck could dominate, people will still play the style they prefer. A fun thread would be what will we miss the most at rotation? For me, Stormbreath Dragon. Or the Courser of Kruphix, Sylvan Caryatid and Elvish Mystic trio!
