was Dimir control ever a thing in the standard format between rav and theros?

Don't thnk i saw dimir get much love. I saw a blue splash in mono black and seer's aggro but not much else...Any factors contributing to this that i'm missing? sphinxes revelation and supreme verdict were options available to the UW decks but you had access to various sources of card-draw like connections, duskmantle seer and indulgent tormentor and a lot of black removal to compliment a dimir strategy, granted UB have been inundated with pointless mill cards that dont really seem to be worth much outside of limited...And elspeth has by far been the most powerful planeswalker this season, but i don't think that ought to have been a deterrent to dimir players

some people played esper to gain access to Thoughtseize , Hero's Downfall , Obzedat, Ghost Council , among other things, but the azorius trifecta (Supreme Verdict , Sphinx's Revelation and Detention Sphere ) made it hard to justify playing control without playing blue and white.

3 U/B control decks made top 8 in RTR-Theros standard. 2 were in MTGO standard dailies one was at Grand Prix Shizuoka by Shota Yasooka. The only other appearance on MTGTop8 of a U/B control deck is when Shota Yasooka took a deck similar to his GP one to Pro Tour Theros and placed top 64.

Yea dimir just wasn't that super strong. Control wise Esper was a much more balanced shell and there were lots of better options for aggro

I was the only DImir player at my local FNM, pretty much all control was Esper. Then I changed over to Grixis cruel control, I still get wrecked
