This is a two parter. First off what are the best answers in standard for Boros Reckoner ? Secondly has anyone here tried running Boros Reckoner alongside Blasphemous Act and if so to what effect?

Tragic Slip / Murder / other black kills that don't do 'damage', Essence Scatter / Cancel / Dissipate , Mutilate , Pacifism / Arrest , Oblivion Ring / Detention Sphere . Less ideally - Searing Spear as a one shot kill but then he would ping the 3 damage back.

He won't deal damage to you if you kill him with -1 counters instead of damage or use something that has the wording 'destroy'.

Blasphemous Act is best run alongside Stuffy Doll

I will offer one word of caution if you do go for the Blasphemous Act and Boros Reckoner combo. Never do it when you are staring down a Boros Reckoner on the opposing side of the field as theirs will trigger first (I am 90% sure on this could be wrong though). Also if they have mana up it could be really bad if they are running Boros Charm and Azorius Charm to gain infinite life. So in other words don't run it if your meta has a lot of Boros Reckoner s floating about.

actually if my understanding of priority is correct yours would take the damage first, for the same reason that when you cast Killing Wave the player who's turn it is (generally the player who cast the spell) has to pay the life or sac the creatures first... i could be wrong though

@ Nephilim, they would take the damage at the same time. Since you are the active player, your ability would go on the stack first. Your reckoner damage would resolve after theirs did, and you could easily lose the game before they did.

To deal with reckoners I suppose Dead Weight and Tragic Slip would be a good bet. Victim of Night is cheap and works well against that deck. If you run reckoners yourself and want to get rid of others, say to clear the way for a blasphemous act, you can oblivion ring it or just kill it and deal with the 3 damage. In R/W its difficult to get rid of them, but if you have black it becomes much les of an issue.
