I'm at Game Day for the first time.

I am sure I will get my arse kicked.

Good luck to ya! Which of your decks are you running tonight? I'm excited to play tomorrow, I haven't played in a game day since probably 2015.

I am playing Cast a Shadow

First match I had dreadful draws both games. I got hardly any of my early drops in hand. Didn't see one single Grasp of Darkness.

Had To the Slaughter in hand when he played Nissa, Voice of Zendikar but nothing to kill the plant so I couldn't get him to sac the Planeswalker.

I have a BYE for this match, so at least I'll win one.

We only have nine people playing, which peole tell me is a VERY low number for our LGS.

Enjoy the experience! Learn what you can, even if you do get your butt walloped on. And hopefully you still get some sweet goodies for the effort!

I wish I could attend game day this weekend! I even built my first Standard deck since RTR rotated. But alas, work calls. I would have loved to give my sneaky little brew a whirl and watch it get rolled over by endless Heart of Kiran.

We had no #1 Mardu Vehicles decks.

One Copy Cat, and quite a few Control decks.

I had a friendly against the guy who beat me in the first match against my Speedway Champions, which beat him soundly.

He said the matchup is too fast against his Snek Deck.

My final match was against Control.

As to be expected with Control playing Control the match was very grindy.

I know that I usually end up winning against that type of deck, and I did in the first game.

We ran out of time to finish our second game, but I had the upper hand.

I ended up winning the Yahenni's Expertise promo I was after, and also got a promo Trophy Mage for my Commander Artefact deck, so that was a good day for me.

They played off for the playmat but I was up against Snek Deck, and got knocked out straight away.

I don't know if I'd play at another Game Day. The players were all a bit srs bsns for me.

I ended up in third at my own game day tonight, I was on Jeskai Saheeli. I went 4-1 overall, all my matches I won I went 2-0. I lost against Jund Energy Aggro round one, and went on to beat UG Energy (budget deck), GW Midrange, Jeskai Saheeli and finally Jeskai Control. Lots of great games, I played really sloppily round one and then tightened up my play and went on to play pretty well I think. The only match up that didn't give some good games was the UG Energy deck, she was a newer player on a budget deck without many powerful cards and Jeskai Saheeli doesn't give an inch. That match up was a beating, but all the other games were fun and interactive.

I came second at my Game Day but numbers were really low everywhere compared to last time...looks like the bans killed off a lot of interest.

So the next person who posts in here will have come 1st at their Game Day! lol

My LGS owner said that he thinks interest in Standard has only dropped off in the US.

I'll be playing twice next week, so I'll be interested to see what the numbers are like.

I had a pretty good turn out for my game day, we had I think it was 25 people overall. Which is good for this LGS.

First Game Day here as well with a Panharmonicon build - came in 10/30. Not great, but I considered it decent since the bulk of my win conditions have not yet arrived in the mail. Beating your opponent to death with a Cloudblazer takes a LONG time.

Was told they almost never hit 20 people so turnout was spectacular.

Haven't played standard since ol' Hellrider rotated out but I'm happy it seems like there are a lot of viable strategies right now (at least at the local level).

I snuck into the top 8 with Grixis Emerge, which to my shock and dismay I really enjoyed playing.

F.R.F I'm always excited when I see a deck that runs Cloudblazer.

Lol - so we could make up the numbers I borrowed a mates budget Bantharmonicon deck that runs a playset of Cloudblazer....sold all my Standard cards in December so I could buy more edh :3

Typically my not caring about the result and only playing for fun earned me my best finishing stats in years: 4-1, only loss in final :/

Only had 10 players at the first gameday and 8 later that day at my lgs for the second. I came I think it was 5th the first time and then the second time I in fact placed first with my B/G delirium deck. Now I chose not to do anything like Winding Constrictor and all of that as I wasn't going to stop playing my Liliana, the Last Hopes, Grim Flayers and Ishkanah, Grafwidows mainboard. The only changes I made were the addition of 1 Verdurous Gearhulk over a Noxious Gearhulk, added in a couple of Fatal Push's too, and instead of my foil Emrakul, the Promised End I went with a foil Decimator of the Provinces which I usually emerge cast off of an Ishkanah, Grafwidow.

We had 14 players for our game day, which was high for a Saturday afternoon. I placed 12th with one win on a less-than-optimal UB Imporvise control. It was one of three decks I had on hand.

I supplied a couple of players with GR energy deck and UG Aetherflux Reservoir storm, both quite-less-than-optimal. They were both 3-1 and 2-2 respectively and ended up in the top 8. Jund control was the deck that won the Gameday. It turns out Radiant Flames is a good card when 8/14 players are some variation of R/W/B vehicles.

Felt a bit salty afterwards, but I had a blast playing a deck I like and it was quite fun.

Radiant Flames, you say?

I was wondering about that card in the current meta.

At least you know that you build decent decks. I always count it as a win if my partner's deck gets a win, as I built it.

Boza says... #21

Yes, the player used ye old Zendikar interaction Goblin Dark-Dwellers, Pulse of Murasa, Radiant Flames to have an abundance of wipes available.

I was super happy for the two other players winning more and getting the rewards, I was just a bit salty I did not build my deck right. But htat is what building a deck in the shop just before the gameday, borrowing cards from 5 people would do.

Well, yes.

Good building usually takes consideration and testing.
