Trying to build a drake haven cycling deck but I'm stuck!

Standard Deck Help forum

I have been trying to get a drake haven deck to work but at FNM and through play-testing it has been too slow to stabilize and really get online. I started with this build Esper Haven after a few games decided it was way too slow to be competitive at all, so modified to Esper Haven Modified play-testing with the new build it was an improvement but still couldn't quite finish opponents. The second build felt like it was just a couple of cards away from being a really good deck. At this point I'm out of ideas and would love any suggestions!

I have really loved playing with a slightly modified Temur Drakes list that Tolarian Community College made a tech on a couple weeks back. Link Here

With regards to your decks, it sort of seems like you're mashing up control and cycling into one archetype. I would go all out for greater success (e.g: -2 Torrential Gearhulk, -3 Disallow, -1 Essence Scatter, -1 Negate, -2 Fumigate, +2 Curator of Mysteries, +3 Forsake the Worldly, +4 Renewed Faith) to give you greater consistency and more Drake Haven targets. Good luck!

Hjaltrohir I actually started with TCCs Drake deck, but that had the same issue I'm running into now where it was just a little to slow to really get running in the current meta. How did you modify your build of it?

Hjaltrohir I'm planning on trying out your suggestions tonight. Was curious what you would suggest to sideboard? (beyond cards to complete full playsets of cards that are in the maindeck.)

nintendopower454 I added a sub-theme of energy with Harnessed Lightning, Attune with Aether and Aether Hub all boosting each other. Other than that, I just altered the numbers slightly, and I removed Blossoming Defense and added Sweltering Suns.

For the sideboard, it really depends on your meta. Maybe Declaration in Stone, more Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, Fumigate, Negate, Essence Scatter and the like. I recommoned most of the control elements you take you place in the sideboards so you can take the controlling route where necessary.
