I drafted a few time with amonketh and i want to try standard and i was wondering if there is a good deck revolving around the blue cards of the set since i have a lot of them

ThrillingThriller,
First, welcome to Standard!

I always recommend folks start with SaffronOlive's Budget Magic decks, at the bottom of this page over on MTGgoldfish. Even if you're not totally budget-constrained, I recommend starting with a decent-but-inexpensive deck until you get a better feel for the meta and your playstyle preferences.

The best part is almost all of them have an associated article, where you can read more about the deck and watch his gameplay videos.

Good luck (and good skill)!

The decent decks for this set only use a couple of cards from Amonkhet to strengthen cards from other sets.

You've got Yuuya Wantanabe's Temur Marvel (#2 PT AKH), which came second at the Pro Tour, and UR Control by OAFMCNAMARA, which has been doing well.

Unfortunately that's the state of Standard at the moment.

As you have discovered, Amonkhet is a BRILLIANT set to Draft.

You've got three ways forward:

  1. Try to build a deck based around the cards you have. We can give you some help once you put a list together. It won't beat a lot of the top decks at FNM, but it might win a match here and there.

  2. Stick to drafting, which will probably be more fun.

  3. Set up a casual group with a couple of friends and all just build decks from the Amonkhet cards.

ThrillingThriller,
It's the Temur Marvel deck Argy mentioned in her post. It's currently the strongest deck in Standard.

EDIT: Shakes fist in air at Argy, who beat me by 3 mins :-)

Well SOME people think it's the strongest deck.

StuBi's Angelic High thrashed it 2-0 last week.

#1 Black Zombies beat it in the Pro Tour final.

clayperce I snuck in there like a ninja.

True, true.

I'm 3-2 (matches) with The Return of Steel-Cannon Pummeler (AKH), too.

So: ... generally considered the strongest deck in Standard atm. :-)

This was more of a jab at how standard is really sad at the moment. And zombies only beat it because it was unexpected. Most lists now main board 2-3 Chandra, Flamecaller which has pushed zombies way out of the format. The only deck that has a real good match up is U/R control

Snapdisastermage,
I don't know about your LGS, but I've been super-pleased with where Standard is now. In my last 35 matches, I've encountered 24 different archetypes.

Also, it turns out RG Pummeler has serious game against Temur Marvel. I'm now 71% (5-2 on matches).

Lucky you. Thats not the case at Every PPTQ And grand prix I'm at. Not being a smart ass. Really thats great that your metagame is diverse. But its simply not the case as far as standard as a whole goes

Snapdisastermage,
Oh, I totally agree with you at that level. I was just thinking that OP will probably not be playing at PPTQs for quite a while. Me either, for that matter :-)

I was more comparing it to last season, where even the casual meta was pathetically boring.

Standard flatlined last season.

I've seen it revitalised a little bit, lately.
