Need Help to create a deck (maybe 2)

Standard Deck Help forum

Like the title says I need help to get a deck that works well, not for competitive, it would be more for something like casual with some family members. So because I'm a beginner I don't have a color preference or a specific gameplay.

Ok so first of all you are dreaming if you think anyone will read that list but I bought the same intro deck and would recommend making a grixis (red blue black) control deck. It is casual of course and easy to make with the intro deck as a starter.

February 16, 2017 8:35 p.m.

I glanced through and heart of kiran+tezz of metal is awesome. Tezz +1 finds heart and crews it

Ok, first of all you can put those cards on websites that accept collection in order to create a deck... the first I used was deck stats so yeah, people may help me, even with this list.In a second time, I need a few more cards to create a good deck with what you told me

February 16, 2017 9:37 p.m.

JerryW72 says... #5

You could do a could artifact deck built around Tezzeret's Touch.

Jwillette72 Could you send me what you are proposing me? I mean a list or something, because I'm a beginner and I don't hav emuch experience in deck building

February 16, 2017 10:46 p.m.

JerryW72 says... #7

I'll work on it tomorrow. I'm about to go to bed now. It's not the best deck as I don't have a lot of cards, still relatively new myself, but It's a place to start. I think.

February 16, 2017 10:55 p.m.

Here: I built this grixis control deck with your cards. Please copy it and tell me when you do as I am going to delete this deck eventually.

You know if you had typed this in the Tappedout format, 4x Shock, this would be so much easier.

Argy says... #10

If anyone wants to take a crack at building, here is a list of all the cards you can copy.

Deck

I would have had a crack at building, but the list alone took so long to format properly.

Hardhitta7 says... #11

I may be able to put something together later, have to see how busy I am.

But you don't have any preferences whatsoever? Like a favorite card or color or mechanic?

Also you should probably thank Argeaux for making that awesome list of all your cards. Lol

February 17, 2017 4:11 p.m.

Argy says... #12

If I get time, won't be for a day or two, I will make two decks, each featuring one of your Planeswalkers.

Why don't you have a stab at building two decks and putting them on Tappedout?

It's a good exercise and we can help you a lot.

February 17, 2017 4:15 p.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #13

Yeah don't be scared to throw together something yourself. We can give you suggestions.

I still have to look through all your cards but I'm sure I can come up with something.

Also look at other people's decks on the site and see what you find interesting or think you would enjoy. The #1 goal in Magic is to have fun. (Well, for most of us anyway lmao)

February 17, 2017 4:18 p.m.

Pokced says... #14

Ok, I did create a deck inspired of my intro deck and I,m now trying to do a new one (red and blue based on arifact, artifact interaction, etc.) I'll let you know all about those when I'll got time to do the list and also a big thanks to you Argeaux for the list

February 18, 2017 12:51 a.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #15

Sounds good, can't ever go wrong with red/blue decks in my opinion, but I'm a wee bit biased toward Izzet.

You have some awesome cards in your collection already, so you can probably build yourself 2 or 3 nice decks!

February 18, 2017 12:56 a.m.

Argy says... #16

Good going, Pokced.

Building decks is tricky to learn, not going to lie, but it's an amazing skill to have.

It will help to get really good at stuff like prerelease.

February 18, 2017 10:53 a.m.

Argy says... #17

I made two decks for you.

They are NOT equivalent in power, so I wouldn't expect to have good games if you play them against each other.

I may be able to tweak them to get them closer in power, but it will be tough because you have so many more cards than . It MIGHT help for you to buy four Tranquil Expanse for your deck. Those lands are very cheap.

Stronger deck: Aetherborn and Bred

Weaker deck: Vroom Vroom Vehicles

February 19, 2017 12:24 p.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #18

And as usual I got sidetracked and didn't finish... lol

Those both look pretty good, actually better that you built the artifact one as I was only going to include 1 vehicle: Heart of Kiran. I could never get into playing Vehicles for some reason.

If Tranquil Expanse weren't so cheap I would send you some for free, but it would probably be just as cheap to order or get some off friends.

February 19, 2017 1:23 p.m.

Argy says... #19

Not many people understand Vehicles.

I fell in love with them right away.

February 19, 2017 2:02 p.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #20

I understand them, I just don't like playing with them for some reason. There are some great ones though, no doubt. I really like Smuggler's Copter and Heart of Kiran.

Mechanize Those ArtifactsWhat about this deck, please help me reconstruct it...

I tried to do a Mechanized Production from Artifact (not token) at first I was doing blue/red and I ended up blue only because I only had a few red and a lot of blue/colorless so here is my deck.

You have my list of cards anyway if you want to do modifications but I think the deck is ok until I try it or you tell be it's shit XDhardhitta71194 Argeaux

February 19, 2017 10:30 p.m.

Argy says... #22

hardhitta71194 I meant understand in the way of actually playing decks with them.

I actually prefer Aethersphere Harvester and Skysovereign, Consul Flagship to both of those Vehicles.

Pokced the biggest problem we are going to have is that it is VERY difficult to build a deck based on someone's card collection.

It's much better if you build a deck, then buy the cards.

February 20, 2017 12:18 a.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #23

I gotcha, no worries. I may like them if I tried playing them more, so maybe I'll give it a shot! I get stuck playing certain ways and don't try new play styles often.

One other thing, don't ever think your decks are shit. You should see some of the stuff I came up with when I started playing (mostly swapping cards in intro decks).

Just build, playtest, make changes, repeat and eventually you will end up with a great deck! Plus there will be cards you need to add for your playgroup in particular.

And you should probably listen to Argeaux over me, I just talk too damn much. :P

February 20, 2017 12:40 a.m.

Argy says... #24

hardhitta71194 I was talking to a guy who works for Wizards in Australia recently and he said it's very important to build decks which match your play style.

So if I were you, I'd stick to what you know.

I have to build very different decks for my partner StuBi because he plays differently from me.

Mechanize Those Artifacts

This is my new deck, in the side deck I put the choice of cards I need to add in order to complete my deck, feel free to propose some other (as long as it add the 2 missing cards of my deck for this one to be made of 60 cards)

In the Maybe Board I did put some cards I think may be good that I'll probably put into the side deck (feel free to propose me a good side deck)

You can put as many modification as you want I already did change some things (removing Metallic Rebuke and a few cards that didn't work well in my deck to put cards I will buy)

Also tell me if I should replace Leave in the Dust by Ice Over

February 20, 2017 11:30 p.m.

Pokced says... #26

Argeaux hardhitta71194

Do you have lands you don't use cause I really need some and I don't have a credit card to pay online and also that I don't want to buy something like that since I just bought a booster Box and I start realize it was kind of useless because I should simply buy the prerelease box and create me a GOOD standard deck from it or find one on internet that I like.

February 20, 2017 11:36 p.m.

Hardhitta7 says... #27

What kind of lands are you looking for?

February 20, 2017 11:52 p.m.

Argy says... #28

Pokced go here. Scroll down to the bottom and search for a place near you where people play Magic.

Walk to that place. Ask people for some Lands.

Use the word "suggest" instead of "propose".

It's better English in this case (I'm helping Pokced with English).

February 21, 2017 7:16 a.m. Edited.

Argy says... #29

There is a place for both Ice Over and Leave in the Dust.

I would have slightly more copies of Ice Over as it can slow your Opponent down in the early game.

Leave in the Dust is better in the late game, so you don't want too many copies ending up in your opening hand.

February 21, 2017 7:23 a.m.

JerryW72 says... #30

When I started and I needed lands and was too scared to go to my LGS because I was afraid I'd suck, so I got a Toolbox instead. I know Wal-Mart also sells, at least my Wal-Mart does, a little plastic box that has two packs and then a bunch of lands in it.

After playing for a while and competing in my first tournament this weekend I really regret not just going to my LGS and asking for some lands for a deck. You'd also be surprised at the other cards that people will give you for nothing. They are very nice, at least at my LGS, and offered me most anything for free to help build decks. All they asked is that I repay the favor back too!

So if you've got a LGS nearby I'd hit them up! If not you've always got Wal-Mart or Amazon.

February 21, 2017 10:56 a.m.

Argy says... #31

The OP may not have a Walmart in her/his country and has already said "I don't have a credit card to pay online".

As suggested, hit up your LGS = Local Games Shop/Store

February 21, 2017 11:10 a.m.

Pokced says... #32

But what about my deck I still need to know what cards I need to add...

February 21, 2017 5:03 p.m.

Argy says... #33

I told you what I thought you should add earlier in this topic.

I don't mind giving you a bit of help but I can't keep building decks for you.

Like all of us here, that is something you'll have to learn.

I've already spent a LOT of time building two decks for you.

I can take a look at your decks and give you some suggestions, but you'll have to do the bulk of the work yourself.

February 21, 2017 6:59 p.m. Edited.

Hardhitta7 says... #34

What it all comes down to is playing your decks. Then you will know what you need and what you don't need. Just upgrade as you play.

February 21, 2017 7:06 p.m.

Argy says... #35

The bulk of building is actually playtesting.

You can use the playtester on this site to practice playing decks against each other.

Open two tabs with two different decks and go back and forth between them, playing each of their turns.
