Always Standard Discard

So I'm finally dipping my toe into Standard. I live in a pretty Internet-poor area, so unless I want to get disconnected from 30%+ of games, Arena's not a great option. I built this discard deck on the grounds that 1) I hugely prefer brewing to netdecking, 2) I like discard strategies, and 3) I had a lot of the cards lying around from drafts and Modern. I wanted this deck to be my one Standard deck, modifying it and keeping it active through rotations.

Long story short, I'm getting stomped. I'm barely in the initial playtest stage.

It's not true that it's completely winless, but many of its wins came from flukes (Golgari drawing land after land with no payoff) or mistakes (4 comes before 5, burn deck users). The most success it had was when it drifted into a more Grixis control line, which isn't what I was looking for. Even some (unofficial and preemptive) help from the Core 2020 Leylines isn't doing much.

Am I overlooking some key cards? Am I just inexperienced in Standard? Is it entirely the wrong meta? Should I wait for a better discard package? Probably a little bit of all of the above. I seriously don't care if it's a low tier deck, as long as it actually holds up once in a while.

I tried making a mono black discard deck on arena because I had most of the pieces anyway and it seemed poorly positioned. It got ran over by aggro and lost to powerful top decks against midrange. Control was the only matchup that seemed winnable. I think discard just doesn’t have the tools it needs to be good.

There are other more off the wall discard decks however which could be worth a try.

Narset + Induced Amnesia put this in a control shell and u will probably have a decent deck.

Another unique combo, that came with m20, Bag of Holding + Awaken the Erstwhile

Goodluck!

I like that Narset + Induced Amnesia deal. Awaken the Erstwhile has been growing on my radar for a bit. Combining it with Bag of Holding seems a little fragile, but it also seems like a lot of fun. Thanks for the thoughts!
