I currently pulled Nicol Bolas, the Ravager  Flip and I thought he could work in a Dimir mill or surveil deck. Any ideas or suggetions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. im a returning player but currently fairly new to the game again, so please bare with me

Well hes red so no you cant play him in dimir with only blue and black lands lol. But hes a great card in a midrange or control set up. And I dont think theres enough mill in standard to make a mill deck viable

If you can fit in the reliable access to , he's by no means a bad splash. He can be a solitary win-con. Definitely would surprise your opp too. Worth toying with in my opinion.

I would say he is a solid splash. At the very least he is a 4/4 for 4 mana that makes your opponent discard. That is playable enough on its own, and it doesn't account for all the utility you get when flipping him

Gateway Plaza Can be used for red. Patient Rebuilding + Nicol Bolas' planeswalker 1st ability + Psychic Corrosion.

You can easily splash with both Dragon's Hoard and Sarkhan, Fireblood.

if he is splashing red only for Nicol Bolas, the Ravager  Flip then i dont think Sarkhan, Fireblood is a good source of splash, because you need to get 2 red sources to use it, which means you already succeeded in finding your splashed color, but Dragon's Hoard is an amazing idea! Get the red source, play the dragon, draw a card. that's value at its best. the nice thing is multiple copies on the field wont hurt you, as you just get to draw more cards. The real issue is if you are running only 1 copy dragon, chances are you will never find him. no dragon means no value from Dragon's Hoard, and in a mill deck paying 3 mana for a land isnt too optimal. Id make it a 2 of. if you are on a budget though, going surveil and adding Bone Dragon as a recurring threat/value from Dragon's Hoard might be an idea. That or you can just splash with evolving wilds and 1 mountain like all the boring kids do.

Hey, Grixis Control (Dimir splashing red for Bolas) with a tapout discard/surveil theme is a deck that has potential in Standard.

Thought Erasure, Disinformation Campaign, Bolas, Doom Whisperer, Dream Eater can be a powerful curve. A deck like this can take advantage of Ritual of Soot since Bolas, Whisperer and Eater don't die to it. You can splash red for Bolas with 10-12 sources of red: 4x Steam Vents, 4x Dragonskull Summit, 3-4x Sulfur Falls.

Main deck supporting spells can be: Discovery / Dispersal, Moment of Craving, Vraska's Contempt, Essence Scatter, Cast Down, Notion Rain, Search for Azcanta  Flip, The Eldest Reborn. Sideboard Duress and Angrath, the Flame-Chained can add to the discard theme. Thief of Sanity and Negate are two of Dimir's best sideboard cards.

i dont think you should go mill though, mill may be fun in a certain king of sickly way, but surveil has more competative potencial.
