How do I beat a Zombie Deck in standard?

Standard Deck Help forum

Hey, guys

If anyone could help me that would be awesome!

I have a friend who plays a killer Standard zombie deck which I never have a fighting chance against. Most of all his cards he casts allow him to put zombie 2/2 cards out or add counters to his creatures by sacrificing his zombies.

I'm currently playing a red/white standard deck with mostly werewolves and Angels.

What can I do to defeat this deck or atleast have a chance in standard play?

I've thought about fighting fire with fire and playing a black zombie deck myself?

Please help if you can.

Thanks!

Deck lists of either of both would help a lot. Especially your deck list. Werewolves and Angels could mean a lot of different things.

If he has many 2 toughness creatures, then maybe play Seismic Rupture? Zombies don't have many flying creatures and you have angels that don't get hit by it.

If you're willing to spend the money, a couple of Declaration in Stones might be worth it.

You would have a better time shutting his deck down if you played .

That would give you access to so many board wipe cards such as Declaration in Stone (can also get rid of Creatures with resurrection effects), Flaying Tendrils, and Hallowed Moonlight.

As well as these you can also play Anguished Unmaking to get rid of Jace.

If you put in hand disruption cards such as Duress, and Transgress the Mind you will also rip significant cards from his hand.

I would only play Creatures yourself that can survive most of the board wipes. Ideally ones with 5 toughness or more, but you could get away with some that are 4 toughness.

Since this will be a Control style deck you can get away with only playing a handful of Creatures in the mid to late game.

Shambling Vent will help you to have a Creature that survives board wipes. Myth Realized will also do that.

Hope that helps.
