Today, Wizard released an article by Gavin Verhey, entitled: "WELCOME TO LEGACY"

I find it quite telling that this article is released the Friday before spoiler season for Eternal Masters begins. - Clearly they want people to be thinking about 'Eternal Formats' at this point. That's an obvious reason for such an article to be released, but what (if anything) can we take away from the article that may provide insight about Eternal Masters?

Near the beginning of the Article, Gavin states, "Today, my goal is to walk you through some of the building blocks of Legacy. It should give you an idea, at least, of where to start looking for treasure in this vast ocean of Magic cards."

Assuming the article is effectively a 'hype-train' for Eternam Masters, I feel this is an attempt to draw the attention of new players to specific cards to be mentioned in the article.

The article then gets into deck archetypes, and specific 'sample' deck lists.

Those (11) lists are:

  • Zoo
  • Burn
  • Delver
  • Death and Taxes
  • Miracles
  • Deathblade
  • Lands
  • Ad Nauseum Tendrils (ANT)
  • Sneak and Show
  • Belcher
  • Food Chain

So, the question now is, do these lists have any representation of what we can expect to see in Eternal Masters? (i.e.. are these representative of the draftable synergies we should expect to see)

If they are, we could start to extrapolate which cards we can expect to see. Cards that are high in synergy for multiple decks would be more likely, and each archetype will likely have a few 'key' cards that are clearly for only that archetype.

PLEASE Gavin!!!!

Death&Taxes is without question a control deck!
