Why is red being pushed as the mana-ramp in Standard?

Has anyone else noticed that? Now in Standard up until Aug (So we have a few months of Kaladesh left) we have the following:

  1. Chandra, Torch of Defiance
  2. Neheb, the Eternal
  3. Jaya Ballard
  4. The First Eruption
  5. Skirk Prospector
  6. Chandra, Bold Pyromancer - http://mythicspoiler.com/dom/cards/chandraboldpyromancer.html

Now, don't get me wrong. Red has had it's fair share of mana sources before. Infernal Plunge, Geosurge, Seething Song, Inner Fire, Dragonrage, & Soulbright Flamekin to name a few.

But having this many cards all in Standard together? Granted, I highly doubt anybody will be making a mono-red ramp, but the set-up for Modern / EDH is certainly sitting there.

Now, we're not talking about decks that are going to see the competitive scene. Most of these cards feel too slow, and with half being Planeswalkers that would be very hard to protect all of them. The payoff is also minimal when you consider dumping 4 - 6 mana into a walker just to get 2 - 3 back until your next turn. Better ways to tap into your resources.

No, my question is why is red suddenly being pushed as a mana-source? As I said, I know it has always had it's fair share of cards, but to me this feels a little weird having so many in rotation all at once.

Llanowar Elves is coming back to standard. Let's not kid ourselves. Red has always had ritual-type effects. Just because we have a few effects in Standard that add Red doesn't seem indicative of anything to me.

Just going a little heavy on the rituals that aren't rituals because rituals are slightly too good for standard or something because, yeah, Dom might be making Green's ramp hella solid too.

I mean none of them are as good as Seething Song or Geosurgeso I dont see it as a problem. And why do rituals have to be too good in standard why not push up the power level of standard?

Honestly I think the bigger problem is they'd have to preemptively ban a good ritual in modern, unless they just reprint Pyretic, lest Storm break everything again.

I would say it's not exactly red ramp they are pushing but Gruul ramp. Since green has several good X payoff cards right now like Kamahl's Druidic Vow and Uncage the Menagerie and can ramp early with llanowar elves and various 2 drop ramps so red's high cost rampers can hit the battlefield early as well. Then overwhelm the opponent with green's naturally big cost cards like Carnage Tyrant, Verdant Force, and Thorn Elemental.

Also gruul ramp has lots of kicker effects and access to more ramp in Grand Warlord Radha

And then we also have red's lategame cards as well.

So idk but I like ramp and I think i'm going to make a fun Gruul ramp deck soon when dominaria comes out.
