Here's my idea of how things may end up playing out. I seriously doubt the odds of any of it, but I was feeling creative.

Plot twist!

The gatewatch, with the aid of Liliana, do battle with Emerakul. Victory is within arms length. Suddenly, Nicol Bolas swoops down from the sky and absorbs the weakened titan in an attempt to regain his premending powers. The gatewatch can only watch as Nicol Bolas then planeswalks away leaving behind a chilling laugh that echos through our hero's very souls.

Meanwhile, Ob Nixilis, who has vowed revenge, has been watching from the shadows. Unknowingly, he is being watched too by a skilled hunter, Garruk! Garruk ambushes Ob Nixilis in an attempt to crush his new found prey. The battle is hard fought, both are skilled equals in combat. As blows are exchanged, Nahiri appears and interrupts their dispute sealing their bodies in stone. Nahiri vows vengenace on the Gatewatch after witnessing them folly her plans for Innistrad. She offers Garruk and Ob Nixilis an ultimatum, join her or forever be sealed. Ob Nixilis is quick to come to terms with this despite his hatred for Nahiri. He knows bonds are fragile and easy to break. He will do what he's always done in the end, "betray any trust, commit any blasphemy, and pay any price for power". Garruk lothes the idea but after Nahiri skillfully adjust the hedron inside him, completely reducing the curse of the chained veil, he swears his servitude in exchange. Garruk knows ultimately he'll get what he wants in the end, Liliana's skull on his beltside. Thus, the unlikely alliance of three planeswalkers is formed. The Gatecrash! It's sole purpose: to crush the Gatewatch and their newest addition, Liliana!

With Emerakul gone the hero's decide to part ways for the time being. Liliana stays on Innistrad and continues her research with the chain veil. Jace wants to determine the value of artifacts and how they could be used to aid their cause in upcoming battles, so he planeswalks with Chandra to her home plane. Gideon and Nissa return Zendikar.

The return to Zendikar brings grim findings from Ugin's study of the titan's remains. The titans consumed endless amounts of mana to keep something larger at bay. With the checks and balances of the blind eternities gone, all planes are now at the whim of an even greater being set free to do as it pleases. No sooner than hearing this, Gideon, Nissa and Ugin witness as Zendikar suddenly trembles uncontrollably. Ugin states, "It's here" as Zendikar fades to white.

Ummm...what's so bad that the Eldrazi had to keep it at bay instead of destroying it?

Exactly what TMBRLZ said. People need to chill for a bit. Zendikar is done. Marit Lage is not coming back.

Also, these alliances are so far in the left field Wizards would be really desperate. Confirmed, I bet it happens. lmao

Marit Lage definitely needs an official return, but perhaps not in this arc, but over the course of a few more blocks, maybe something new looms in the unknown corners of the Blind Eternities. Bolas also needs to return... but to consume Emrakul? I think the opposite is more likely. Just my opinion, I'm happy with Emrakul's return nonetheless!

I'm okay with Marit Lage coming around. But people need to stop expecting it.

Everybody got all giddy over Thing in the Ice  Flip when they only spoiled the front side at first. I feel like Wizards did that crap on purpose. Nobody stopped to consider that Marit Lage was on a different plane originally and now completely unaccounted for.

I'm just tired of all the pre-any valid source or reasoning hype. If she comes back, cool. Let's tie up a loose end and take a look back at some pre-mending walkers having an immediate impact on the current state of the multiverse. Just quit. freaking. drooling. over it every single chance you think it might be happening. That's my tangent on that.

As far as Nicol vs. Emrakul...

No. Just stop. Nicol cannot be relevant until we're centered around a three color plane again, and I don't think they'll be rushing to revisit that again right as they're closing one out.

I honestly thought Nahiri's interaction with the gatewatch would go like this.

Nahiri: "Don't get in my way or I'll kill you! I need to get revenge on Sorin for abandoning Zendikar, leaving the Eldrazi to run free!"

Jace: "Calm down! We already killed two of the titans. Like, actually killed them."

Nahiri: "Ugin said they couldn't be killed"

Jace: "Ugin never tried"

Nahiri: "Well...shit"

Thank you all for the reads and responses!

Fades to white is how it's described when a plane is destroyed, so yes, no more Zendikar.. ever. Nor did I mention Marit Lage! However I did leave it open for speculation. Y'all must really be fiending for some tentacles!

"Shadows" refers to the shadows cast by the wings of the angels.

The word "shadows" here being used to create an ominous feeling, which is true to the fact that the angels went mad, killing everything in sight.

I never knew that about the "Shadows" cast over Innistrad. #themoreyouknow hahaha But it really makes sense for the flavor of that plane.
