Meet Sagu Mauler, an unaffiliated Big Dumb Beast.

Well, trample + hexproof is a thing now.

Could be a thing in Temur. Honestly though, I don't really see it being more than a junk rare.

best creature to Cloudshift since Akroma, Angel of Fury . Do not think it will surpasss her though, I am expecting the mythic morph dude.

I'll take my 6/6 hexproof trampler over any other green creature in standard, thank you! In Temur colors makes me even more excited about it. Hasty, hexproof tramplers that draw me a card when I play it? I can hardly contain myself! Hardly a junk rare.

How is thus a junk rare? It's hexproof and trample and a 6/6 for 5 or 6 mana. It's not easy to kill with either killspells or blockers. It's perfect.

T1: Forest into Elvish Mystic

T2: Land, tapping for 3 playing Rattleclaw Mystic face down

T3: 3rd land, tap 2 to flip Rattleclaw triggering it's ability (3 mana), then tap your final land + both mystics (6 mana total) to slam down Sagu Mauler!!!

Are you kidding me!? 6/6 trample hexproof on turn 3? Yes to that all day. All they can do after is try and boardwipe cause you will still have both mystics to sacrifice if need be.

How about one even better?

You will need one of the painlands listed to see the board or somehow hit Forest, Mountain, and Island in a row

T1: Forest/Yavimaya Coast into Elvish Mystic

T2: Mountain/Shivan Reef into Generator Servant

T3: Island/Any land, tapping 3 + mystic + sac the servant (6 total mana) to play Sagu Mauler and swing!!!

This isn't even funny anymore. A 6/6 trample hexproof creature swinging with haste on T3... That's just gross.

I think simic are going to be disgusting. A 2 drop 2/2 flyer is already pretty good to keep the pressure up. This is stupid.

I'd like everybody to read my above post and then say hello to Temur Monsters cause that's gonna be a thing. A BIG thing.

I like him more than fucking anafenza, she sucks as a mythic. What an ass card. Decent standard ma ybe but that is it.

I'll be running him in place of AEtherling in my Yisan deck after rotation.

See now, Kingzerker, that's just greedy.

Besides, a T3 Temur Ascendancy followed by a T4 hasty Sagu Mauler also draws you a card. ;)

Meta dependant but could be playable

This the turn 3 play Soundclaw Mystic was looking for. It's also a decent drop on its own

This is it. The 6 drop I wanted. I'm a loyal rider of the Temur from here on.

Also the T4 play is more depend able. T1 Elvish Mystic T2 Sylvan Caryatid/Soundclaw Mystic T3 Temur Ascendancy/Generator Servant/Other Good Bomb T4 Hasty Sagu Mauler

Curve this guy out with a few Soul of New Phyrexia/SDE and you can protect your board pretty effectively through indestructibility or deterrence.

The more I look at this guy, the more I like it. Funny because I was just thinking how much I wish Simic Sky Swallower was standard legal as I added one to my Momir EDH

September 2, 2014 3:13 p.m.

I'm with beckhr: Temur has my loyalties for this rotation (and probably beyond it in EDH, as some of these will probably wind up in my Intet, the Dreamer deck).

Well of course the T4 will be more dependable but thats no fun haha. That being said, T3 Temur Ascendancy followed by T4 Sagu Mauler isn't bad either. Who doesn't like drawing cards, right Named_Tawyny?
