Which are you most excited for? I am really liking the lithomancer. She seems pretty powerful.

Is this about EDH in particular? Or is it General discussion? Opinions about cards belong in SRS, General, or format forums.

Hmmm...wasn't too sure about which forum to put it in. I guess this post was meant to start a general discussion of the cards

I'm going to move this to SRS then, since they're technically still spoilers.

Just gonna plug these in here for reference.

Thank you Ghost, much appreciated

Im really impressed by the red and white walkers (although I was hoping for Urza), as well as the red commander cards in general, as red is sorely lacking in edh. Teferi seems very strong as well but he seems like a very vulnerable commander since he can't protect himself directly, and I'm quite disappointed with Freyalise and Ob .

Ob and Nahiri in conjunction with the plot of the current block also are strong arguments for Return to Zendikar and the conclusion of the Eldrazi saga happening as the post-khans block, probably leading back into Liliana/Garruk shenanigans.

Thanks GoldGhost012. Personally, I am most excited for Nahiri. I like Ob-Nixilis but I don't have a black Commander deck at the moment. I wouldn't run Nahiri as my general, though. She seems to be powerful, but I like to use generals that outright win the game. I'm not sure she does that on her own. Only thing I can see from her is that she will continue to pump tokens with equipment until you can get the Sword off and then you essentially get something to the effect of Rafiq of the Many

Nahiri looks the coolest, but Freya list is a close second as well as fitting great into my Omnath deck.

My favorite is definitely Nahiri, because of a mix of power and lore. I really like Daretti too because of combo potential and he's actually a good red walker, even if he is specialized. I really want to like Ob Nix, but he feels underwhelming. Teferi and Freyalise I think are a bit meh, but I can definitely see where they would shine.

Nahiri is my favorite, but that may just be because she'd been a faceless character for a while, and for most of that time we didn't even know her name

Ob is definitely my favorite. I only play commander very casually so he will be fine as one of the 99 and I have been waiting for an Ob walker for a while. Fingers crossed he gets a current walker form in a standard block.

I'll go with Daretti. The three abilities work so well together, and he has the cheapest CMC. Nahiri is the next most interesting.

Daretti is SUPER COOL, and I think he could be playable in other formats. Last time i checked, Goblin Welder was a good card in Vintage. Nahiri is also sweet, and she can be the commander of a pretty cool mono- control deck b/c of what she can do with tokens. Teferi, Ob, and Freyalise are all cool too, but none of them make me want to build around them much.

and look like the worst, definitely. is just the nutter-butters, is great, especially for me who was looking to make mono red artifact edh anyway, and looks like the most fair overall for what it is.

Nahiri's Ult is bonkers...

I really like the red deck, I'm definitely getting it.

I'm kind of disappointed nahiri doesn't get to use her hedrons at all on her card. I hope she gets another printing that includes hedron usage.

I definitely don't think we've seen enough of them to decide which are worst/best yet.

October 29, 2014 5:49 p.m.

All of them are very powerful. Daretti can go infinite if you can pump mana and untaps into Chain Veil (Wurmcoil Engine is being reprinted, probably into the red deck). Nahiri is Wizards' excuse for Stoneforge Mystic being so good (i.e., she's actually a 'walker). Freyalise makes Elvish Mystic every turn, so she is likely the best commander because mana acceleration is important in that format. Teferi is the worst of the bunch, because there are only so many planeswalkers that can go in a mono-blue EDH deck. Ob is my personal favorite, if only for his -'s. He also plays very well with the deck, which was leaked on magicspoiler.com.

October 29, 2014 5:55 p.m.

Nahiri should show up in Tarkir at some point if they bring an Ugin Planeswalker to the table. Then if they bring Eldrazi back players can build very flavorful decks in standard. Walkers vs. Eldrazi. I think that would be pretty cool.

October 29, 2014 6:48 p.m.

I play a lot of red and white but not really commander as it is kinda of intimidating (I'm a new-ish player). These seem pretty cool and fun if nothing else and may be a good place for me to start maybe. I've built decks for Standard out of intro decks before (built much much more competitive now) to see if I liked the flavor of the set.

I'm strongly considering buying the red deck to play Feldon as a commander, and I really want to keep Daretti around in that deck to mess around with artifacts and get more value out of the tokens, and dump the right creatures (Wurmcoil Engine ) into the 'yard.

I don't know if it's because of how long we've known about him, but Teferi seems a bit underwhelming compared to the other 4. I like the flavor of these, especially Nahiri and Daretti. Hard to tell until we have the full deck lists as to which could be better, but I'd bet on red being artifact heavy and white being equipment heavy.

@Jonathannoob Why Tarkir? Zendikar seems like the place for her to make a return, if she makes a return.

Ob Nixilis is definitely one of the strongest here. That Demon will deter a lot of attackers, and his +2 is so dumb in multiplayer that its not even funny. Obviously there are better lifegain cards, but being mono Black allows him to add that to color combinations that usually don't gain life as easily. He's going in my Glissa, the Traitor deck, since it needs more draw and lifegain. And Creatures too, coincidentally.

I also like Freyalise, but more as a part of the 99 than as a commander.

October 29, 2014 7:11 p.m.

If they return to Zendikar. I was just going off the hints in Tarkir. It's likely we will see Ugin as a Planeswalker so why not Nahiri as well? But yeah, could be next set if they decide to do a Return to Zendikar or something.

The goblin. I'm always on board for more nonblue artifact decks.

I actually like Teferi and Freyalise the most. They aren't the strongest, but they seem the most fun to me. Oh whale.

:X

Nahiri and Deretti are strong, but I guess I just don't really like Equipment and Artifact strategies.

Ob-Nixilis seems fun and strong, but I don't know how I feel about mono-black EDH decks.

October 29, 2014 9:38 p.m.

Ob reads "If you have many blockers, drain until you ult to win. If you have no blockers make many blockers."

I like the lithomancer's ultimate, when gatecrash was being spoiled and gideon was printed on everything I was hoping that he could make a legendary Pennon Blade with first strike that attached to him whenever he was a creature. It made more sense since he fought. Maybe next time.
