New Signature Spells product speculation

Wizards of the Coast just announced today that a new product series, Signature Spells, will be introduced. The products will contain 1 foil card, and 8 non-foil cards, that represent the arsenal of one planeswalker, and Wizards has stated that the first planeswalker to get featured through this is Jace. What cards do you want to, or expect to see?

Foil Jace Beleren?? Jace's Phantasm, Jace's Mindseeker, Jace's Erasure, etc... probably everything with the word Jace in it.

I think Counterspell and Jace's Ingenuity are givens. I'd like to see Fact or Fiction. I'd really like to see another Force of Will reprint but find it highly unlikely even if it is flavorful because he defeated Alhammarret through the sheer force of his will.

@Gidgetimer while a Force of Will reprint would be nice, the product has an MSRP of $19.99, making Force a near-impossibility.

Wonder which Jace they'll use. Original, magic origins, new version?

I hope they don't just do all they gatewatch :/

Wanna see an Elspeth signature spells :)

Pieguy396, yeah that is why I said I find such to be highly unlikely. I know it isn't going to happen, but want it to and find that it would be flavorful to so thought I would mention it. The OP asked about cards you want OR expect to see. I named one I expected to see and want to see, one I expect but don't care about, one I am unsure of and want to see, and one that I want to see but feel it is certain that we won't.

It's always good to voice opinions online anyway, regardless of how unlikely your want is. If enough people keep asking for something eventually it'll happen :)

I want to see Elspeth signature spells as well. Then again I want both for Elspeth to come back as a returned and be a WB token Planeswalker and also for her to stay dead so that at least some part of the magic story line has real consequences instead of hack fiction where nothing matters and every single Planeswalker has plot armor because "players like Planeswalkers being the face of magic".

@Gidgetimer you're absolutely right, I just wanted to clarify that I believe that Force is near-impossible, not just unlikely. I apologize if I sounded rude or inconsiderate.

I hope most of the spells included are new cards because a majority of Planeswalker named cards are junk. There are some exceptions: Oath of Jace, Jace's Ingenuity, Jace's Archivist and Jace's Defeat. Are cards like these worth buying a new product though?

New cards for example like an equipment Jace's Cloak, a draw spell Mind of Jace, a new Illusion creature, etc. Cards that get better when you control a Jace Planeswalker?

I hope they have cards worth buying in it like omniscience or mindbreak trap. This product has a lot of potential as a gift, being cheap enough. It will only be nice if the make an effort with it, and don't just fill it with the usual card draw, mill and bounce.

I want tibalt's signature spells...

I don't think they'll create new cards for these sets, and there pretty much won't be any planeswalker cards. Jace isn't his own signature spell after all. And i really hope they won't include any of the pw-deck-only commons. For 20 bucks for 9 cards, there should be some interesting cards, and not just foiled crap rares with new art

I think Talent of the Telepath has a good chance of being printed.

I really hope that WotC does not discontinue From the Vault with the arrival of this series, since I really enjoy FtV and this game really does not need yet another product that focuses on planeswalkers, and also because FtV contains fifteen cards in each set while this new series shall be only nine cards per set, which is ridiculous for the MSRP that they shall have.

I agree DemonDragon. Also, from the vault is all-foil. What they need with this set is. A) Alot of John Avon new-art cardsB) Something that makes the people who bought it feel special, like special emblems they can use or a new lifedie.C) Cards that you can build a deck with. This is the main thing. They absolutely have to have cool, if not good cards. I am looking at Omniscience here. By doing this it becomes fun to have, not just EH.

This is my wishlist. New art on good cards or at least Johnny cards.

Mark Rosewater confirmed that the From the Vault series has been discontinued, and I am not at all happy about that, because there were so many awesome ideas that they never explored with it (i.e., there was never a From the Vault: demons to accompany the angels and dragons). I do wish that WotC had printed one more FtV set, to give the series a better ending than the terribly mediocre From the Vault: Transform.

Ah shoot.FTV made a great gift, and Transformed was basicily Unplayable Masters, well there goes another fun idea, replaced by an outragous rip off

WotC has revealed the full decklist of this set, and, while the borders and are artwork are very impressive, less impressive is the fact that very few of the cards are particularity rare or valuable (only Gifts Ungiven and Mystical Tutor are worth remotely close to what one would expect from a product with this MSRP), and only one of them (chosen at random) will be foil. This is a colossal disappointment, and I cannot believe that WotC actually believes that this product is a worthy replacement for the From the Vault series.

Hopefully, this product line shall improve as time passes, and I shall now predict that the next installment shall focus on Chandra.

What does everyone else have to say about this?

Sulk says... #22

I agree. Can't wizards get it into their heads that negate and counter spell, no matter the art, are classified as 'bulk'. They really can't expect this to be a big success. Only new and clueless players will every buy this. And what's worse, the cards are all only viable in certain archtypes. This is a FAIL
