Confirmation here

What do you think will be reprinted, excluding the obvious Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Etched Champion?

I'm speculating that Birthing Pod, Phyrexian Obliterator, Vendilion Clique and Cryptic Command will be seeing reprints, along with Zendikar fetches.

Mox Opal, Noble Hierarch, I really hope they reprint expensive cards so that Modern becomes more affordable.

Spellskite plz. The rest... I can build a deck without.

Will wizards fuck it up again, by making it just as unavaiblabe as the last one? I guess we'll find out!

December 7, 2014 8:10 a.m.

ness64 says... #5

Goblin Guide and maybe Damnation?

December 7, 2014 8:20 a.m.

ness64 says... #6

As commons, maybe Gitaxian Probe and maybe Bolt?

JexInfinite says... #7

I'm super bummed that it doesn't go up to Innistrad block. Then we could have Liliana of the Veil, Snapcaster Mage and Griselbrand.

At least we can technically have a Thoughtseize reprint, since it was in Lorwyn.

JexInfinite: I highly, highly doubt that Thoughtseize is going to be reprinted. It was literally just reprinted recently, and while it is a Modern staple, it's nowhere near as problematic price wise as some of the other cards in Modern. If they do reprint TZ, it'll be a travesty.

On the other hand, note that they didn't specifically exclude any blocks. There is likely a block or two included in the set that they didn't mention, probably because if they mentioned something like Innestrad, then people would go nuts and dump Liliana and Snappy like mad in anticipation. That kinda stuff isn't healthy for the secondary market.

Hopefully Sneak Attack... But that's just wishful thinking ;)

slovakattack

Yeah, I agree with Thoughtseize. Its slot can be given to a more appropriate card. It was reprinted last year, so I think it's highly unlikely to be printed again.

ness64 says... #12

-Axion-

Modern Masters only have cards that were legal in Modern prior to their reprinting.

Like I said, wishful thinking. I assume we'll see Bitterblossom tthough.

It's from mirrodin to mirrodin essentially. Super stoked for it! Though at 10 bucks a pack, I am hoping to get a deal on the pre-order

slovakattack says... #16

Oh thank goodness xD

December 7, 2014 9:23 a.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #17

I think we're in a good place about actually being able to believe that everything in the OP actually could get reprinted here. MSRP on packs is $10, and instead of a guaranteed foil, you're guaranteed a "premium card" which could mean anything.

Hype.

December 7, 2014 9:28 a.m.

Cobthecobbler says... #18

Bigger price tag should mean better value, ideally.

December 7, 2014 9:29 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #19

Cobthecobbler Wizards has actually never referred to foil cards as foils. They call them 'premium' for some weird reason. It's the same deal as Modern Masters 1, except since it's $10 a pack, there will probably be better commons/uncommons and awesome rares.

Wizards twitter announced this will be a limited print run, but not as limited as mm1.

sonicizslow says... #22

Any ideas on a release date?

December 7, 2014 9:50 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #23

sonicizslow May 22nd on paper, May 29th on MTGO.

December 7, 2014 9:51 a.m.

I hope they reprint Zendy fetches. That would be nice.

December 7, 2014 9:56 a.m.

slovakattack says... #25

ThisIsBullshit: I doubt they will, but only because the Zendy fetches are more likely to be reprinted in Khans itself.

December 7, 2014 10 a.m.

I'm just hoping for Zendikar fetches I don't care what set they come in lol.

Also a Linvala, Keeper of Silence reprint would be sweet. Damnation too, but the planar chaos one looks so cool. :'(

December 7, 2014 10:06 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #27

Seems cool. They always make these more expensive and limit the print run though, which is super counterproductive when you consider the fact that they want to increase access to modern. Heh.

December 7, 2014 10:16 a.m.

8vomit says... #28

Yes, Fulminator Mage, Damnation, Daybreak Coronet zendi fetches ect. Keeping my fingers crossed

December 7, 2014 10:18 a.m.

slovakattack says... #29

ChiefBell: Depends. Limited print run = hype, hype = money. Wizards stands to make more money off a limited print run over time than just by flooding the market, especially if they intend to make these annual.

Remember, Modern players tend not to like buying boxes. If they flood the market, most of the Modern players are just going to pick up copies of the cards they want at deflated prices on the secondary market. By limiting the print run, Wizards makes buy boxes a conceivably viable economic option for Modern players.

December 7, 2014 10:34 a.m.

slovakattack says... #30

Admittedly, I pulled that outta my ass direct, but it sounds accurate :P

December 7, 2014 10:35 a.m.

Servo_Token says... #31

Spellskite, Splinter Twin, Bitterblossom all have justifiable a place in the rare slot. I'd really like to see Gitaxian Probe and Lightning Bolt at the common slot as well.

December 7, 2014 10:36 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #32

There's literally nothing wrong with modern players picking up cards at deflated prices on the secondary market. If MM2 was cheap - they'd do that. If it was expensive - they'd still do that. Either way it's ALWAYS smarter to pick up singles. No, what I was referring to was the guys that don't already play modern. Those that just straight up can't afford singles. This doesn't help them at all.

Oh I forgot about Goblin Guides. Let's reprint those. I really don't want to pony up 80 bucks for a set.

APPLE01DOJ says... #36

Lots of things they could include. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Tarmogoyf reprinted as a Mythic again lol. I'd be happy with that.

I'm liking all the ideas listed, even though I already own most of them. Bitterblossom Damnation Phyrexian Obliterator Fulminator Mage

...If they reprinted Thoughtseize again it would completely destroy the value of the card.

Noble Hierarch is hell of in need of a reprint. 70$ mana dork r u kidding me? Before DRS ban he was 20$ & still overpriced IMO.

APPLE01DOJ says... #37

she*

December 7, 2014 11:08 a.m.

@APPLE01DOJ

Considering the last print run of Modern Masters did exactly zero to drop the price of cards like Bob and Goyf, I'm not sure it would help in this instance.

they mention ravinica so I'll take the obvious route and say yet another Dark Confidant but the reprint i really wanna see is f***ing Serum Visions no common should be 7 dollars Bitterblossom would be pretty neat too. oh and Tarmogoyf because 200 is to much money

December 7, 2014 11:42 a.m.

8vomit says... #42

They should just keep printing Tarmogoyf until he drops a little. He can be the patron for modern masters. Tha demand actually went up for goyf with the last MM release, driving the price up higher than it was to begin with.

I'm excited to draft this! The sheer amount of value...

Also I hope to see Gitaxian Probe and Serum Visions as commons, they really need a reprint one of these days. Damnation would also be so beautiful.

jr92_2000 says... #47

I'm happy to see another MM set, but this price point and the limited print run is ridiculous. Why not mimic Conspiracy? At $10 per pack, you're pricing a lot of players out of the product (at least from buying sealed product).

I think WOTC could make more money if it were printed to demand at the standard price point. The only rationality I can see for it is if they're worried about the demand for subsequent MM products, and limiting the supply now could keep the demand exceptionally high for MM3, MM4, &c.

December 7, 2014 12:15 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #48

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of value in the set, and the high prices justify the quality of the cards. Assuming we are getting a rare and a foil in every pack, and every rare is worth $5 or more, then it might still be worthwhile to purchase sealed product.

December 7, 2014 12:17 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #49

We'll have to see. The price point has a few players concerned. Where I am everything costs about another 50% on top of rrp. A booster for me is about $15 for example.

December 7, 2014 12:32 p.m.

Dumb question, but what will a box cost? $240? or is it reduced like it is for regular boxes?
