Not knowing is always fun, but I'm hoping for U/G because no-one but me will buy it. More likely going to be something aggro like W/R or R/G.

ChiefBell says... #5

We dont know even know if there will be one, let alone which archetype it'll be!

March 22, 2015 11:37 a.m.

anewtomorrow87 says... #6

I'm guessing it maybe an infect deck, mono green or G/U

March 22, 2015 11:42 a.m.

Servo_Token says... #7

If one were to be made, it will be something cheap and yet still kind of good. Infect, burn, green stompy, or maybe up to blue tron

March 22, 2015 12:29 p.m.

pokeyrabbit says... #8

is there a link? but it might be a mono blue tron deck

Link to what exactly? The idea that maybe we might possibly have an event deck? :P

VampireArmy's a troll don't listen to him. This is the real link

SpartanCEL says... #13

I'd say something easy to pilot, but hopefully not burn

March 22, 2015 2:10 p.m.

Baltec says... #14

Infect could actually be pretty cool. Most of the deck is cheap and if you include crappy lands and one Noble Hierarch the value would be close to the first one's.

It's unlikely we will see an event deck this year.

I know with Modern Masters 2015 being named as such, people assume we are going to see a MM set every year. This is unlikely as then sets like Conspiracy have more issues in being brought in due to the amount of space they leave around each set release.

Instead I can see them doing a Modern Event deck next year after MM2015 has been released. This way they can see which other cards people are hankering for a reprint of that didn't get into MM2015.

Wizards wants people to buy all the MM2015. Releasing an event deck pulls away from this.

Also, Noble Hierarch will be in MM2015. No doubt, unless Wizards have some sort of issue with reprinting it for no reason whatsoever.

I would assume, based on past release dates, that there will be no Modern event deck this year.

Modern Masters - June 7, 2013
Modern Event deck - March of the Multitudes ( tokens) - May 30, 2014
Modern Masters 2015 - May 22, 2015

Modern Event Deck 2 Prediction - ~ June 3, 2016

I would assume that the event deck will be a 'not overly expensive' and 'not "true" Tier 1', yet fairly well known deck.

Infect certainly fits that structure, and I wouldn't mind seeing it... though I already have Infect built, so it wouldn't likely give me enough value to purchase it.

Soul Sisters could be another option, as could 8-Rack, Merfolk, or even a Goblin based RDW.

Named_Tawyny says... #17

Well, the first Modern Event Deck had slightly over $200 worth of cards (at the time) in it; I imagine that they'll probably keep it to around those areas - probably rules out infect, and maybe burn, unless they load it with Goblin Guides.

jandrobard says... #18

I'd like it if it was bogles, but only if it had 4 Daybreak Coronet though.

March 23, 2015 9:09 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #19

By the by, I honestly don't believe we won't see one of these until at earliest next year this time considering Modern Masters 2.0 is their focus right now

March 23, 2015 9:12 p.m.

jandrobard says... #20

With that attitude we won't.

Death_The_Kid says... #22

The real question is. If there is another Modern Event Deck, will it have Damnation in it?

March 24, 2015 midnight

VampireArmy says... #23

why would it be?

March 24, 2015 12:01 a.m.

Rayenous says... #24

@Named_Tawyny

If it included Noble Hierarch and/or Misty Rainforest, it could easily reach the $200 value mark.

Let's also not forget that the Tokens deck included Elspeth, Knight-Errant which is rarely, if ever, played in Tokens. - So there really is room to put in whatever card(s) they want for money-filler.

JDX says... #25

I'm hoping for a legacy event deck! I wonder what that would look like...

March 24, 2015 5:38 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #26

JDX

Burn or sac land tendrils. Though that would 99% never be a thing.

March 24, 2015 5:40 p.m.

jandrobard says... #27

ThatJunkMage Wizards doesn't tend to advertize paper legacy as much as paper modern (still waiting on legacy masters set) so I'm going to agree with you on this one. If they did, I'd hope for Pox or 10-land stompy.

March 24, 2015 7:19 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #28

jandrobard Legacy masters would be such a sad set, with so much of the good stuff missing.

March 25, 2015 7:27 a.m.

Legacy event deck?

March 25, 2015 7:39 a.m.

You realize the MSRP on a Legacy event deck that would be relatively any good would be somewhere around $1k, right?

March 25, 2015 7:40 a.m.

Rayenous says... #31

How about "Legacy Masters - Draft Only". - Same as Legacy Masters (plus any changes they feel are warranted), only the "no-reprint" cards are all gold-bordered. Thus they can be drafted and played when drafted, but not used in other formats...

...casual players will likely use them in their decks, which I'm fine with as many people proxy them anyway.

I'm not sure if it would be against the 'spirit of the no-reprint policy', but it retains the value of the original cards (maintain your confidence in the Magic game as a collectible - Wizards reason of re-print policy.), while allowing for an entertaining draft format and allowing for casual players to become more involved in the game.

I think it would work because of this statement within the the policy - All policies described in this document apply only to tournament-legal Magic cards. - Likely put in the policy for just such possibilities.

carysh says... #32

I think that would make a lot if sense

May 13, 2015 10:41 p.m.

xzzane says... #33

Rayenous, Elspeth, Knight-Errant is played all the time in b/w tokens...What are you talking about?

May 15, 2015 1:26 a.m.

carysh says... #34

Can't ppl just buy the med and sell the cards and make a fortune ?

May 15, 2015 8:11 a.m.

no carysh because the cards are no longer worth that. Also the $200 figure is wrong.

Cards of value:

isolated chapel x4 = $6

Caves of Koilos x4 = $12

city of brass x2 = $7

Honor of the Pure x3 = $4

Path to exile x3 = $22

Inquisition of Kozilek x2 = $15

Sword of Feast and Famine x1 = $13

Elspeth, Knight Errant x1 = $15

Total: about $100

May 15, 2015 3:32 p.m.

carysh says... #36

Actually it's 150, my brother recreated the deck on tappedout and saw the value. Ur forgetting cards like wind brisk heights. And 150$ is more than double the cost if the deck , 66$

May 15, 2015 6:27 p.m.

jandrobard says... #37

Tappedout uses TCGplayer mid price, so it's lower than that. Also, Windbrisk Heights isn't essential, it borders on win-more at times and it can be done without.

May 15, 2015 6:58 p.m.

I used Star City Games. They list the windbrisk heights at $0.69 each

May 15, 2015 11:23 p.m.

xzzane says... #39

Tokens can do without windbrisk, but it's a fantastic utility card. Well worth having it in a token deck.

May 15, 2015 11:27 p.m.

carysh says... #40

Well anyway, don't want to get into an argument about that card, so aside from that is the deck just about equal to its value?

May 15, 2015 11:28 p.m.

Dalektable says... #41

I'm hoping so, I think It will really help get more people into modern if they continue with the same level of support for the format. An Infect or Burn list would probably be the best bet.

May 16, 2015 1:06 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #42

I think doing precon decks would be a good way of reprinting some staples in a large way that may not be suitable in a draft environment. A deck would have like 3x Serum Visions or something. That would be a really good thing to do.
